Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops sold a record-setting 1.4 million units during its first day on sale in the UK.
According to data provided to MCV by UKIE/GfK Chart-Track, unit sales were up 14 per cent over Modern Warfare 2. The game’s £58 million in revenue is a 22 per cent increase over Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is available now for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and Nintendo DS.
In addition to a larger installed base for Xbox 360 and PS3, Black Ops has benefited from additional SKUs – Modern Warfare 2 wasn’t available on Wii and Nintendo DS.
The UK sales figure follows yesterday’s announcement that the game sold 5.6 million units in the UK and North America combined during its first 24 hours of availability, bringing in $360 million for Activision.
