These titles have won awards, and acclaim for being the best video games ever made. Excluding Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), these are the best role-playing games of the 2000s.

2 10. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

In many ways, The Witcher 3 can be compared to The Elder Scrolls games. In both games, you play as one protagonist who has been gifted god-like powers. Despite being hated by many of the human beings within the game, The Witcher tries to save humanity from mythical creatures like the one in the above photo. The gameplay of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a step up from Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Playing the Witcher games in order is recommended, but not required.

1 9. Pokémon Crystal

The second generation of Pokémon games brought a slew of new Pokémon to the series. Pokémon Crystal released after Pokémon Gold and Silver and is part of the same generation. Pokémon Crystal made several changes such as including Pokémon from both gold and silver that were previously exclusives. Pokémon Crystal is the central legendary Pokémon in Crystal, and Suicide falls into the story periodically throughout the game. Allowing players to journey to Kanto and Johto was a brilliant idea that worked well in the game. With added content and some of the best designed Pokémon of all time, there’s no way we could exclude Pokémon Crystal from this list.
