There are hundreds of anime series out there and new projects being announced all the time. Even series like Supernatural have gained their own anime series and recognition in Japan. Surprisingly, even with video games being such a hot topic, not many series other than long-running JRPGs get their own show.
Even more, surprisingly, some of the most in-demand series that were originally Japanese made still don’t have an anime series. If you’re like us, then you probably want to see your favorite game get the animated treatment, below we have listed ten games that we would love to see an anime of.
10 The Witcher
With series like the emotional Vinland Saga proving that nordic styled settings can be beautifully animated, we don’t get why The Witcher hasn’t been picked up (save for the live-action show). Even if the series were to just focus on the books, we feel like the anime world would be a perfect way to express the magic of The Witcher’s world properly. This would be even better if studios like Trigger got ahold of the rights.
We would love to see a colorful world with plenty of fight scenes to appear on our anime watchlist.
9 Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley would pretty much be the adult-centered version of Silver Spoon. We would love to see a wholesome anime based on the series about restoring the community, making grandpa proud, and marrying Krobus. We could even see the anime going on for several seasons and selling a lot of merchandise. How many fans wouldn’t want figures of their favorite villager?
Even better, just think of all the interesting songs that could be used for the anime’s opening theme.
8 Code Vein
We really aren’t sure why a Code Vein hasn’t been announced as an anime series. Code Vein, outside of its gameplay, is one big supernatural anime story. The characters are already converted to an anime art style, and Bandai Namco is no stranger at working with anime studios to bring their series to life. An anime would even help to bump the game sales.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will have an anime announcement soon, after all, the next Tales game won’t be out for a few more months.
7 Borderlands
Hear us out, Borderlands would probably do better as an anime than a Netflix show. This is because Borderlands has a lot of over the top action and some very unrealistic character designs. Luckily, anime isn’t held back by action and, if given to the right studio, could probably give us some pretty sweet scenes of battling Pshycos. Who wouldn’t want to see Handomse Jack get the anime treatment?
The anime world has plenty of experience dealing with sadistic villains that like to sit back and watch the chaos unfold.
6 Kingdom Hearts
This is another series that we don’t understand not being made into an anime. In fact, it already has a manga series, and fans have been begging for an anime since the first game was released. While we understand that Disney may be a factor in the decision, they do have a Japan-based animation studio that probably has the budget to help Square make a pretty decent anime.
The show even has it’s own theme songs ready for each season, and could be a long-running series with plenty of OVAs and spin-off titles.
5 The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
If you’ve been on YouTube lately, you’ve probably seen the fan-made animation of Breath of The Wild. This short video proves that the game could make an action-packed anime that fans would love. We already had a Zelda series back in 1989, why not do a new one that younger audiences could watch on TV as well?
Even if they didn’t want to start with Breath of The Wild, Nintendo could use and shorter series like Minish Cap to get the ball rolling. We would love to see every series get the anime treatment if possible.
4 God Of War
God of War is another series that Vinland Saga made us want to see made into an anime. The gruesome fight scenes and mature dialogue of the Sony exclusive would make a wonderful anime for adults. We could even see Netflix helping to produce the show, which would make it even sweeter. Even if the series was just based on the newest game, it would be a welcomed surprise by fans.
At the very least, it would be cool to get some anime shorts that depict Kratos drawn in a style similar to other warrior anime.
3 Fire Emblem: Three Houses
This is another series that we don’t see why an anime hasn’t been announced for. Fire Emblem; Three Houses is the most successful game to date in the series and has a large range of characters for the story to focus on. The game would also be easy to convert to an anime style as the characters are already drawn in a way that would be easy to translate for an animation studio.
Even better, Nintendo would have no problem working with some of the top animators to create the show since they developed a short anime for Kid Icarus.
2 Red Dead Redemption
If you have watched Cowboy Bebop, then you probably know what we are thinking. Stylish animation that perfectly depicts the realistic old west. Arthur Morgan would be the perfect protagonist that we could follow to the very end. Red Dead Redemption even has plenty of side-quests that the studio could use as an OVA or filler episode when needed.
Best of all, they could even do both games in the series, starting with Red Dead 2 to keep things in order. We could imagine anime Arthur now calmly riding his horse off into the sunset.
1 Resident Evil 2
There is a lack of good horror anime coming out, and Resident Evil could be the series we need. Specifically, Resident Evil 2, a game that is universally loved and filled with tense situations. This would be a great chance to pull more games into the series and better explain the lore of the game’s world. In addition, it could lead to a long-running series where every game gets its own anime.
We would even be happy to settle for an anime movie if it could incorporate all the key moments from the game.
