The following games have a main story that is shorter in length, but that’s part of the reason why we love them. They accomplish everything a video game should in a short time frame, even though other games can’t in twice the amount of time.
An average video game is around twenty-hours, but it depends on the genre. A role-playing game is often longer than first-person shooter games, yet the length of a game says nothing about its quality. As long as a game has a cohesive narrative and enjoyable gameplay, it doesn’t matter if a game is five hours long. These are 10 awesome PlayStation games that take less than ten hours to beat.
6 Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
The story of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is something you uncover while playing the game. From a visual art standpoint, the game is gorgeous. You’ll become immersed in a world that tells a beautiful tale.
One small fix that could’ve made this game a masterpiece would increase the movement speed of the player. Although it’s fun to explore the game at a slow pace, players should have the option to move as fast as they’d like. Regardless, many people will enjoy the speed since its the pace the developer intended. You can beat Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture in about 4.5 hours.
5 Until Dawn
2015’s Until Dawn is an interactive survival horror video game that is full of surprises. Its storytelling places it among one of the best horror games of all time. Your actions influence a game that is reminiscent of a teen horror flick.
Until Dawn features voice actors such as Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and Peter Stormare. With an all-star cast of well-known actors, it’s no wonder why it’s one of PlayStation’s greats.
4 Infamous Second Son
If you liked Spider-Man for PlayStation 4, chances are that you’ll thoroughly enjoy playing Infamous Second Son. The game is set in a fictionalized Seattle, which is a city you don’t see often in games. You’ll find tons of things to do outside the main story. Doing an Orbital Drop, a type of attack, from the highest point in the game is too awesome. But if you stick to the main story, it can be accomplished quickly.
Infamous Second Son was a commercial success for its strong visuals, unique gameplay, and immersive open world. More importantly, it’s available for a low price since its part of the PlayStation Hits.
3 Inside
From the creators of Limbo comes a game that stands out in its genre. This game is dark and bone-chilling, but for what it lacks in jubilance, it more than makes up for in character. Its unique style makes the game and its story more gripping.
Inside is a 2.5D puzzle-platformer that forces players to manoeuver around environments to avoid death. It may not be a game that is suited for young children, but the artistic value of the game makes it worth playing.
2 Journey
Initially released for the PlayStation 3 and later ported to the PlayStation 4, Journey is a unique game. Its mysterious world is filled with emotion and breathtaking visuals.
Beating Journey takes players two hours on average. Completionists, however, will take over five hours. One might wonder how such a short game could have enough substance to be play-worthy. As a winner of countless awards, including the world’s first video game Grammy nomination, you’ll have to dive into this game to find out.
1 Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
One of the most underrated games of the Uncharted series has to be Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Although its reviews were overwhelmingly positive, Drake’s Deception is overshadowed by games like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End because of their groundbreaking gameplay mechanics.
Although not as a big of a leap in gameplay as Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, it improved in almost every way. This game plays in less than ten hours, and it might be the best game of the Uncharted series.
