While the PSP has been out of production for several years now, that hasn’t stopped players from trying to revisit classic games. The PSP officially released its last game in 2016, and Sony no longer makes new models of the console. Like most any console with out of print titles, some PSP games are now surprisingly hard to find. Most games for the system remain cheap, and you can even buy some titles like Daxter for only a few dollars.

There are a handful of games, though, that collectors have a hard time getting a hold of. From little known JRPGs and fun rhythm games, the rarest PSP games may surprise you.

All prices and games below are taken from Price Charting, a constantly updated source of video game pricing.

10 Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable ($85)

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable doesn’t have the phantom thieves in it, but is still a hard-hitting JRPG. Persona 3 revolves around a group of students who are aware of the dark hour. The dark hour occurs in-between days and creates a realm where monsters roam around-consuming any humans they find conscious during this period of time.

The game was published for both the PS2 and PSP. Unfortunately, PSP copies are a lot harder to find. The game now goes for around $65 UMD only, or you can choose to go for a complete edition for around $85.

9 Class of Heroes 2 ($65)

Class of Heroes 2 built-on the success of the original by adding in more classes for players to choose from. In the game, you play as a hero who is still enrolled in school. When you’re not taking tests you embark on quests into dangerous dungeons to help clear out the beasts who terrorize the land.

Class of Heroes 2 had a few hiccups when it came to English publication. A crowdfunding campaign had to run, and a limited number of the physical editions were put on sale for fans to buy. Since the PSP game only had a limited amount of physical copies released, the games price floats around $60 used and $65 new.

8 The Legend of Heroes III: Song of The Ocean ($120)

The Legend of Heroes III: Song of The Ocean follows the path of Forte, who is in search of resonance stones that are powered by music. Unlike other PSP games of the time, Song of the Ocean uses 2D graphics and a linear gameplay system. The game also featured an interesting pet system where players could bring their pets into battles.

Like most other games on this list, Song of The Ocean wasn’t produced in mass, leading it to become a rare game. Just a used copy will run you around $70, while new copies typically go for around $120.

7 Hexyz Force ($72)

Hexyz Force is a one-shot JRPG with two different protagonists to play as. You play as both Cecillia Armaclite and Levant von Schweitzer, a cleric, and a knight. Levant is trying to find an assassin, while Cecillia is working to keep the god of destruction at bay. Both protagonists are blessed with holy objects that help them when in battle.

When released, the game was criticized for being too short and have an easy combat system. Hexyz Force typically can be found used for around $65 While a new copy generally runs around $72.

6 Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin ($115)

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin is the PSP version of the second game in the Persona series. The protagonists in Persona 2 take on the villain Joker, who can distort reality by simply telling rumors. The PSP game added additional content to Persona 2, including all-new story locations from Shin Megami Tensei If.

There was a debate at Atlus concerning bring over a localized version of this game due to the amount of Japanese culture used in the game. English copies now go for $63 used and $115 new.

5 Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky ($80)

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky revolves around the story of two siblings that choose to follow in their father’s footsteps. Soon enough, the protagonists Estelle Bright and Joshua learn that their father’s ship has vanished. Determined to find him, the siblings set out on an adventure that places them in the middle of their countries politics.

Much like other Legend of Heroes games on PSP, Trails in the Sky did not sell well in the States. A used copy of the game currently costs $35, while a new copy will run you $80.

4 Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley ($59)

Seeing a Harvest Moon game on this list isn’t surprising when you consider how rare the NES and Nintendo 64 games are. Much like in other games, Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley, you need to save the farm, along with the town around it. A corporation named Funland intends to bulldoze everything to make a new amusement park.

Players need to grow crops, raise animals, and court marriage partners to save their home from being bought out. Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley usually costs around $40 used and $59 new.

3 Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team ($100~)

Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team featured 70 characters from the beloved series for players to choose from. The combat was a 2v2 style that allowed fans to make their ultimate character combinations, such as Vegeta and Frieza. Tenkaichi Tag Team also featured several customization options and ten different maps to fight on.

This was the last Dragon Ball Z game to appear on the PSP and likely took a lull in sales because of its late release. The game can be purchased used for around $45 or new for upwards of $100.

2 Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble ($80)

Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble is a beat’ em-up in a sandbox setting. Gamers can name their character, as well as their school, before wandering the streets for a fight. This quirky game even features a trash-talking mini-game that will pop-up before a battle is started. The game also features a plethora of weapons to choose from and a cell system that lets you call for help.

Kenka Bancho was a niche title in the states and didn’t have high sales. You can now find the game for around $35 used or $80 new.
