Final Fantasy XIV is a gorgeous MMORPG with beautiful characters. Due to all that, fan art of the game is not rare. Fans have made portraits of their favorite NPCs as well as their original characters.
The game has also existed since 2013 and has only gotten more and more popular with each expansion. Its latest expansion is Shadowbringers, where its characters have developed more, many new locations are available, and the story is better than ever.
Here are ten pieces of fan art we love. Be sure to check out the links to the artists, as they deserve the credit for their work. Also, be warned, spoilers are in some of these pictures. If you have not beaten Shadowbringers, you will see spoilers for that expansion!
10 Y’shtola
The artist is Xzin and they decided to make fan art with the white mage and black mage version of Y’shtola next to each other. Of the many NPCs in the MMO, Y’shtola is one that has changed a lot since A Realm Reborn. Though while she has lost her vision and changed classes, she is still a very wise and serious character.
There have been so many fans of her black mage outfit that actually has recently become available for purchase on a Mogstation.
9 Lady Iceheart
This image is of Ysayle, she is a woman who was able to summon the Primal Shiva. She was a major character in Heaveansward and sacrificed herself for the heroes near the end of the expansion. Her death is often overshadowed by Haurchefant’s, but it is still sad and heartbreaking.
The art was made by Athena-Erocith, who has also done amazing portraits of characters like the Crystal Exarch and Emet-Selch from Shadowbringers.
8 Lyse
Lyse is actually Yda but revealed her true name at the beginning of the Stormblood content. Yda was actually her dead sister, who she pretended to be for a long time. In Stormblood, you help her free her homeland from the Garlean Empire.
The artist for this piece is Dice9633. According to them, Final Fantasy XIV is one of the first video game series that they have fallen in love with. They also wrote in the art description that while Lyse’s outfit is very impractical for fighting in, she wears it beautifully.
7 Emet-Selch And The Warrior Of Light
This beautiful piece is by nipuni. Her profile description says “I am in love with the antagonist,” which makes a lot of sense since she makes a ton of art of Emet-Selch from Final Fantasy XIV and Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition. Those two characters actually have very similar backstories!
This portrait is of her Warrior of Light with Emet-Selch. A lot of fans ship the two characters, as it seems Emet-Selch knows more about the Warrior of Light than others. Unfortunately, it seems his character is done in Shadowbringers. But who knows? Maybe he can come back somehow?
6 Halone
This piece was made by the same artist that made the Lady Iceheart fan art, Athena-Erocith. Like Iceheart, this piece also focuses a bit on Heavensward content. It shows the goddess, Halone, inviting a knight to her side. The knight in question appears to be Haurchefant, who died protecting the Warrior of Light.
Halone is the guardian deity of Ishgard, where Heavensward takes place.
5 Gaia And Ryne
Gaia has been introduced in the most recent patch for Shadowbringers. Like Ryne, she is an Oracle from Eulmore. However, she is an Oracle of Darkness instead of Light. We have a feeling that there is still a lot to learn about her character. For now, though, she and Ryne make adorable friends.
The artist who made this is Nooboru. Besides doing a lot of Final Fantasy XIV fan art, they also do a lot of fan art for Final Fantasy XV.
4 Men Of Heavensward
Here is a third piece by Athena-Erocith. According to them, these three NPCs are among their favorite characters. That is true of many fans, as all three Elezen were very integral to the plot of Heavensward.
The clothes and the flowers are an original idea from the artist. We may be looking too deep into this, but it seems the flowers are symbols of what kind of hearts the men have. Haurchefant is like sunlight, Aymeric is the calmest of the three, and Estinien is prone to getting too angry and passionate.
3 The Twins
Made by nakano-oeaki, this art is of Alisaie and Alphinaud. They are major characters in the game, though we have been with Alphinaud way more than Alisaie since she only becomes part of the team at the end of Heavensward.
Both of them are the grandchildren of Louisoix and are very capable for their age. Alisaie is a talented red mage and Alphinaud has been both an arcanist and scholar.
2 The Crystal Exarch
The Crystal Exarch and the reveal of who he truly is is part of what made Shadowbringers so great. Yet again, this is a piece by Athena-Erocith. According to them, this is one of their favorite scenes of him. It is when he summons other adventurers to your side to fight Emet-Selch.
He is beaten and bruised in this picture because that is how he was in the scene. Emet-Selch had kidnapped him after shooting him in the back. He just managed to get away to help the Warrior of Light take the Acian down.
1 Zenos
Here is Zenos, one of the main antagonists of the game. Though fans have had conflicting opinions about him lately. Many have preferred Emet-Selch as a villain, but he is gone and Zenos is still around.
