Temtem, the massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure game bears striking similarities to the beloved Pokémon games but there are also important differences. One of these differences is that Temtem is typically more difficult as it appeals to an older audience. Because of this, it’s more important than ever to make sure you have a powerful team of Temtem.
Whether it’s to combat the more difficult NPC encounters or because you want to be the best battler you can be. There are certain things you can do to take your Temtem to the next level. So for those itching to triumph over other players or who want to dominate, here are 10 tips to make an overpowered team in Temtem.
10 Choose The Right Team
The first and most important thing to do is to collect a team of Temtem that you believe to be the best. As you play through the game’s story and even as you play against others casually, you’ll begin to see which Temtem’s you like best. This can be a boon because it’ll give you direction but it can also hold you back. There may be a particular Temtem that you grow attached to that is not the best one you could use.
To help get past this is can help to ask others for help or, more importantly, watch other competitive battles and see what they use. Often times you’ll see that they use a specific Temtem because it excels in some way. Maybe it’s really good at taking hits or at breaking through other tanky Temtems. It’s important to recognize why a certain Temtem is used.
9 Organize Your Team
Whether by deciding on your own or through watching other people battle, you should now work on getting your team in order. This means, first, that you need to tame the chosen Temtem and level them up.
There are some things to help you with this. The first is an item called the Coward’s Cloak. This item allows the Temtem holding it to gain experience and TV’s without taking part in the battle. Another important part of the game in gathering your select team is to breed certain Temtem together.
8 Min-max TV’s And SV’s
Once you’ve settled upon a team of Temtem, it’s important to make sure they’re as strong as they can be. One of the most important ways of doing this is by training their Single Values and Training Values, or SVs and TVs for short. These two important values will increase the specific stats of your Temtem.
To start, SVs are more or less randomly assigned to your Temtem but there is one thing you can do to improve them. When you breed Temtem, the child will inherit its parents’ SVs. TV’s are gained through battling wild Temtem or feeding your Temtem certain fruits. You can have a maximum amount of 1000 per Temtem and a max value of 500 in any one stat, so choose wisely.
7 Learn The Elemental Chart
Because of how similar Temtem is to a certain other game, it can very easily confuse you and cause you to make basic mistakes. This is particularly notable when it comes to the elemental typings. In Temtem, super-effective attacks do double damage and ineffective attacks do half damage. If a Temtem has a dual-typing then it’s possible to do even more or less damage as well.
A lot of these typings will be familiar. However, you can mess up and make a mistake. Particularly notable ones are the Digital, Crystal and Toxic types. Be sure to remember what’s good against what because even the most overpowered team can fail if you get that wrong.
6 Master The Battle System
Just as important as knowing your elemental types is to understand the Temtem battle system. The most immediate thing you need to understand is that most battles will be 2v2, which means you will need to have Temtem that can work well together. Another important aspect to remember is that each Temtem has a stamina bar which it uses to use its abilities. Run out of this and you’ll quickly be in trouble.
A particularly important thing to remember is what your techniques will do and just when you can use them. Not every technique can be used right away, some will require you to wait for a few turns or use another technique to speed that up. Another, more advanced, system to remember is that of technique synergies. When using an elemental attack with a Temtem of another certain element, an additional effect will be added to the attack.
5 Know Your Team
In order to build the most overpowered team, you will inevitably need to take into account which opposing Temtem could break your team. If you’ve built a hyper-offensive team then there will probably be a super-defensive team that could completely stop you in your tracks.
If you understand this then any competitive battles you participate in will become easier. Which is another point, when you decide to battle competitively, there will be a pre-fight pick and ban phase. This means you shouldn’t build a team that is solely dependent on one Temtem to win the battle for you as the other player is sure to ban that Temtem, leaving you without a chance of victory.
4 Understand Speed And Priority
Every stat in Temtem is important but speed is one stat that can easily win or lose you the battle. This is because, in Temtem, techniques will have a certain priority to them which will interact with the Temtem’s speed stat. These priorities are indicated by yellow arrows (sometimes accompanied by another symbol) and the more arrows they have, the greater the priority.
Now you might be thinking that means the more arrows the better, right? Well, in a battle you will sometimes want to use a lower priority move to maybe catch the other player switching in a different Temtem. Likewise, if they have a particularly powerful Temtem out, you may want a very high priority move. One last thing, even with a slow Temtem, it can be useful to have invested a certain amount of speed TVs into it.
3 Using Items
Items are often some of the most powerful things in any video game that are also completely underutilized. In Temtem they will help you create the most overpowered team that you can. With the right items, you can train your Temtem’s TV’s in any way you like. Accidentally put some into a stat you didn’t want to? There’s an item for that. There’s also an item to help increase your SV’s.
Don’t forget that items will also let you teach your Temtem new techniques. Finally, you can equip different pieces of gear on to your Temtem. These will do a large variety of things, all to give you an edge over your opponent.
2 Traits
Another important part of building your overpowered team is getting the right traits onto a Temtem. Traits are not easy to control and are somewhat random as to what your Temtem will get. But they are well worth it. Generally, these are assigned to your Temtem as soon as you tame or breed for them. There is, however, an item that lets you control this.
The Engineered DNA Strand forces the parent’s trait onto the egg. This can be incredibly useful as you engineer your team to be the best that it can be. Giving your offensive powerhouse a trait that boosts the power of its primary element can be devastating.
1 Practice
The final and most important thing you can do to make sure you have the most overpowered team you can is to practice. This means seeking out other players and battling with them, whether casually or competitively. Casual battles may be more appealing to you as you will neither gain nor lose anything in-game.
You can prepare your Temtem in all of these listed ways and more but if you never battle others, you’ll never unlock your team’s true potential. You’ll never know if you’re weak to a particular strategy or if your knowledge is lack if you don’t put it to the test.
