Right now, From Software is one of the hottest names in video games, and George R.R. Martin is recognized for his captivating stories and expansive lore. Elden Ring is going to be like sticking the best things imaginable in a blender and seeing what we get. The result, a cinematic open-world role-playing game that’s releasing in 2020. 9 Dying Light 2
By day, you pillage and scavenge for supplies to aid your survival. By night, the nightcrawlers come to life and attack with brutality. Dying Light 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Dying Light that is expected to release in 2020. The game is confirmed to release for next-generation consoles, but will also release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Dying Light 2 is a game with parkour mechanics, meaning that players can jump from rooftops in order to escape crowds of Virals (recently infected zombies). The game could improve on the previous Dying Light with advanced parkour mechanics and a more intriguing story.
8 Marvel’s Avengers
Square Enix is bringing the heat with their newly acquired IP, Marvel’s Avengers. Featuring most of the main Avengers such as Thor, Iron Man, Captian America, Black Widow, and Hulk, this AAA game could only be amazing. With Square Enix backing the game, we can expect nothing less.
According to one of the game’s devs, this Marvel’s Avengers will feature over 30 hours of content. The gameplay trailer that was revealed at E3 2019 showcased the most spectacular gameplay mechanics we’ve seen in an Avengers game yet.
7 Cyberpunk 2077
The upcoming role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be the hottest title of 2020. It is set in a dystopian city where crime is rampant, and there is a divide between the wealthy and the poor.
Cyberpunk 2077’s open-world could be the most impressive we’ve seen in a game yet. The characters seem genuinely exciting, and the futuristic setting is believable. It looks and sounds like everything we want in a role-playing game. We can expect to see this game launch in early 2020.
6 Minecraft Dungeons
According to eurogamer.net, “There’s no mining or crafting.” Minecraft is doing a 180-degree swivel in this hack-and-slash dungeon crawler. So far, we know that Minecraft Dungeons will take place in various biomes, and it will focus on cooperative play.
Resembling games like Path of Exile and Diablo III, it will be one of the biggest releases of 2020. Assembling a squad to fight bosses will be a joy in Minecraft Dungeons. The game will be cross-platform between PC and Xbox One, and possibly for consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as well.
5 Final Fantasy VII Remake
The Final Fantasy VII remake will revitalize a timeless classic with a change to its gameplay, but with the same loveable story and characters. Essentially, the game is being rebuilt from the ground up. It’s been over twenty years since the release of Final Fantasy VII, and a lot has changed. Will the remake win the appreciation of its hardcore fans, or will it be left in a trail of disappointment? We’ll have to wait until the much-anticipated year 2020 to find out!
4 Microsoft Flight Simulator
Microsoft is continually pushing innovation, so there is no telling what they might have in store for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The game has dynamic weather, flying at night, and a wide variety of light planes and jumbo jets to pilot.
It’s been a while since Microsoft Flight Simulator X released in 2006. The sequel will undoubtedly be the most realistic flight simulator game we’ve ever seen. Microsoft Flight Simulator is releasing for Xbox One and Windows 10, and it’s coming in 2020.
3 Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite is raising the bar with graphics unlike we’ve ever seen in a Halo game before. Developer 343 Industries is using the new Slipspace Engine, which will offer unprecedented levels of emotion and realism.
Halo Infinite is going to be a launch title for the Project Scarlett and an Xbox One release, hopefully in 2020. This spiritual reboot will feature a new Halo ring and will bring back intricate armor customization akin to Halo: Reach. Microsoft’s biggest franchise is going to be a gamechanger in the upcoming year.
2 Rainbow Six Quarantine
This time around, Rainbow Six Quarantine is taking a gander at a futuristic setting where the world is under attack by an alien parasite. The Rainbow Operators will dive into unforgiving environments to face a mutant threat.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege was a critic success that improved significantly after launch. All signs are pointing towards Rainbow Six Quarantine being one of the biggest games of 2020. It’s a different spin on the Rainbow Six series, but we’re prepared to find out what the game might entail.
1 The Last Of Us Part II
As the sequel to one of the most impressive story-driven games of the decade, The Last of Us Part II is going to kick off 2020 with flair. Although it’s not the most important factor, it’s hard to ignore how exceptional the game’s graphics were in the trailer.
There were a lot of cliffhangers left at the end of The Last of Us. The Left Behind DLC attempted to tie some of those knots, but we still don’t know what happened to Ellie or Joel. Did Joel survive? What will come of Ellie’s resistance to the virus? These questions and more will be answered in The Last of Us Part II.
