The 2010 Spike Video Game Awards have just ended (check out our live blog recap) and it was an epic year for premiere trailers but a questionable year for on-stage entertainment. The consensus from the online community points to lack of excitement or actual comedic comedy from some of the presenters this year but it was made up for in the quality of video game unveils and teaser trailers.

With Neil Patrick Harris doing the best he could with the material he had with a rather quiet audience, Guillermo del Toro becoming the best part of the award ceremony and an incredible live performance of “Far Away” by José González, the night was ripe with world premiere trailers and a plethora of awards handed out. Red Dead Redemption took home game of the year over its most worthy competitor, Mass Effect 2, and somehow, Sgt. Woods (Black Ops) won the new category of best character of the year.
