Whether you love or hate the WWE 2K series there is no denying that the games are jam-packed with things to do. There are endless moves and combinations of grapples that you can learn and discover through repeated play. In addition, the ability to customize your very own wrestling universe and television shows opens the door with near endless gameplay and story opportunities of your own.
Whether you feel the series could do with a year off to establish a new engine or not, 2K instead prefer to go with the “if it ain’t broke” formula and consistently build on what it has and add more features to please longtime fans.
WWE 2K19 is no different in this regard and while it carries a lot of the already improved features from the last game over to this newest entry, there is still enough here to surprise fans. Additionally, there’s quite a lot of unintended effects and matches to play around which add more interesting dynamics to the squared circle.
While some of the hidden secrets in the game may eventually get patched out, there is definitely enough here to keep fans busy.
23 The Hulkster Is Back
Now that Hulk Hogan is finally back in the WWE’s good graces – he’s sort of – back in video game form. In previous games, players could get banned for creating Hogan and his likeness in the create a wrestler suite. That’s changed this year, because not only can you create him but his name is now included for entrances and announcements.
If you’re too lazy to create your own you can always download a near perfect Hogan from the custom creations store. Just use the Outsiders NWO entrance theme and you’ll have the NWO Hollywood Hulk Hogan back in action.
22 Tommaso Ciampa’s Hidden Entrance Theme
This year’s edition of the WWE 2K series has some surprising omissions when it comes to the WWE superstars that are still active on TV. However, the most surprising is the absence of the current NXT champ and rising star Tommaso Ciampa.
Thankfully, players can get him by using the Community Creation feature. Perhaps more interestingly, those who want an accurate representation of the wrestler will find his unique entrance under Generic Entrance 5 in the Easy Creation menu.
21 Bray Wyatt and Taker’s Surprise Run-Ins
A cool feature that has made their appearance in the WWE 2K games are mid-match run-ins. If you watch the product on TV then you’ll know that the run-ins and interference are a big part of building the drama to set up feuds between wrestlers.
New to this year’s entry is the mystical run-ins during the cage cell matches by The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt. If you set up mid-match run-ins and selecting surprise attack during Universe Mode matches you’ll be treated to one of these stand-out moments in the game.
20 Hidden Ministry Attire
Perhaps more than any other wrestler The Undertaker has worked through a surprising amount of gimmicks and looks throughout his career. This is usually reflected in the WWE 2K series too with different selectable versions and attires. This year, however, we don’t get the Ministry attire without a little bit of digging.
To get his hidden attire select Undertaker ‘91 then take Undertaker 99 into creations mode and you’ll see his Ministry attire selected at default. Then All you need to do is finalize the creation and it’ll automatically save as an alternate attire for Undertaker 91.
19 How To Unlock Big Head Mode
Some fans have complained for years that the WWE 2K games can sometimes take themselves a little too seriously. This year the developers have done a complete 180 and given players the opportunity to play as your favorite wrestler with a massive head.
In order to unlock this all you need to do is participate and complete “Andre’s Ascent” in the Towers mode. Here you will have to beat 14 legends which includes Andre himself in a steel cage with several stipulations in place. Once beaten you’ll be able to activate the big head mode in the match options before a match.
18 Unlock Zombie Triple H
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw had an unlockable zombie costume back in 2009 for Fit Finlay. It was the kind of thing that fans enjoyed when they needed to take a break from the semi-serious nature of the WWE gaming series.
WWE 2K19 has gone some way to reintroduce the fun factor with its own zombie character in Triple H. To Unlock him all you need to is either play the MyCareer mode and defeat him there or take the quick and easy route using the Accelerator pack.
17 Mustafa Ali’s Hidden Entrance Mask
Mustafa Ali is another one of those wrestlers on the WWE roster that has a fairly unique entrance and attire. However, fans of WWE 2K19 noticed that some of his attire was missing in regard to his entrance mask.
Mustafa Ali fans will be pleased to know that there’s still a way get it. All you need to do is edit the character’s entrance attire in the Create a Superstar menu and access the face covers and it’s the third mask down on the left. It comes complete with the flashing lights like it does on WWE 205 Live.
16 Use Managers As Wrestlers
Before we get started on this one we do need to warn you that there is a possibility the 2K will patch this one out. However, as of update version 1.0.0.4 on the Xbox One, this little trick is still working.
To get a manager selectable as a wrestler all you need to do is go into Creations, then select WWE Superstar and then select the manager that you want playable. In the menu screen select the Personal Information tab then set ‘use as alternate attire’ option to ‘no’.
Then select ‘yes’ at the next screen prompt and finalize. You’ll now be able to select the character from Custom Superstars but you’ll need to provide them with your own moveset.
15 How To Set Up Squash Matches
Squash matches have always been a big part of the wrestling business and are generally used to make power wrestlers like Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, and especially Goldberg with his famous undefeated streak in WCW.
You’re able to replicate that in WWE 2K19 and the easiest way to do this is to pick a powerful wrestler to against someone with low stats like Curt Hawkins. If you’re quick enough to get the first few hits in the Overwhelming Offence feature is triggered giving your character a huge boost in power and early finishing move.
14 Taker’s Big Evil Walk-In Entrance
The Dead Man has several versions of himself in WWE 2K19. His default entrance in this versions has the Undertaker arriving in his motorcycle, but there is another walkout version.
To select his walkout entrance go into Easy Creation and Entrances, then select his “Bad” entrance and he will now perform his walkout entrance without the bike. In addition, this is also his default entrance for HiaC matches too.
13 Cell Shaded, 8-Bit Matches And More
A lot of casual gamers who have picked up the game just for a few quick matches may have seen the YouTube videos of matches being performed in a cell shaded cartoon style look and wondered how to activate it.
To activate the cell shaded matches all you need to do is create a show and go into Filters and you’ll see a list of different video effects that you can use such as a VHS mode, 90’s, 8-Bit and of course the cell shading.
12 Get The Older Ric Flair As An Alternative Attire
In WWE 2K19 we get several versions of Ric Flair at his prime with his older self only selectable as a manager. However, as of the current update version on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, there is a way to set the older version of Ric Flair as alternate attire to used in the roster.
To do this all you need to do is go into Creations, select WWE Superstar, and select Ric Flair ‘91 and manager attire. This will take you into the edit screen to select attire type and set this to Superstar and finalize. Now select ring attire and import Ric Flair ‘91 attire you can also do this for his entrance. Once you’re done, make sure you finalize and it will be added as alternate attire from the superstar selection screen.
11 Special 6-Man Balor Club Entrance
Even though it seems unlikely that we will be getting the proper Bullet Club in the WWE any time soon the Balor Club consisting of former Bullet members Finn Balor, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows was the closest we got to it.
For even more realism we have special 6-man tag entrance for the trio which can be set up in Edit Teams. From here create your Balor Club then make sure the tag entrance setting is Gallows and Anderson. Then under Trio leave the Template as Custom then select The Club 2 for Motion. Finally, set everything else to Finn Balor and press Accept. You’ll now get a new Balor Club entrance for the 6-man matches.
10 The Hart Foundation Entrance
The original Hart Foundation which consisted of Bret “Hitman” Hart and the late Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart is considered one of the greatest tag teams of all time. They were active in the 1980s and 1990s where they won numerous tag team titles before moving on to becoming singles competitors.
In honor of the Hart Foundation and The Anvil’s passing WWE 2K19 has finally added an accurate entrance motion for the team. All you need to do is go to edit teams and create The Hart Foundation from there and set the tag Entrance Setting to the Hart Foundation.
9 Super Heavyweights Can Fight For The Light Weight Title
In many of previous versions of the WWE 2K series, there have been belts based on weight class. These belts have always been known as Cruiserweight Championship in both the WCW and the WWE and the Light heavyweight championship.
The games just like the shows only allowed wrestlers under 220 lb to compete. However, this year wrestlers of any size compete and win the light heavy strap even super heavyweights like the Big Show and Mark Henry.
8 Changing The Promo Attitudes
Promos in wrestling have always been a big part of the industry where usually the most charismatic wrestlers get noticed with The Rock and John Cena being prime examples of this. While they touched upon this in the last year’s game WWE 2K19 has placed a lot more emphasis on getting your characters to act like how they are supposed to in Universe mode.
To adjust this, all you need to do is go into Universe Superstars and click on the Promo Attitude tab and you’ll be given a much larger choice of personality traits for the characters to come more in line with what you see on television.
7 Unmasking Rey Mysterio And Other Masked Men
There’s no current option to in the edit superstars modes to unmask wrestlers like Rey Mysterio and others masked wrestlers. However, for those of you really desperate to see what they look like under the mask there is a workaround to reveal this.
To unmask your chosen wrestler you to take them into Creations then set use an Alternative Attire to No and finalize your creation. Now go into Creations and Highlight Reel then in this order click New - Top Layer - Add a Clip - Cutscene and finally, My Career. Then select Cast Superstar to your chosen masked wrestler with their alternate attire and the cutscene will now play without that wrestlers mask.
6 The Undisputed Era’s Hidden Entrance
The Undisputed Era is another up and coming stable of young wrestlers in the NXT division playing the role of heels (villains).
They are also in WWE 2K19 as a stable but as a default, they are set to enter arenas separately meaning that you will miss their proper entrance if you keep the game’s default settings active.
To rectify this all you need to do us change their Tag Entrance Type from separate to together and this will activate their proper entrance as a tag team.
5 Unused Victory Motion For Colons
Primo and Epico Colon are a Puerto Rican WWE tag team and are members of one of the most famous wrestling families in the world. They have worked through several personas under the service of the WWE first as a masked team known as Los Matadores and as The Shining Stars.
They are now rightfully called the Colons under the Smackdown banner. Sadly for some reason, their victory motions have been set to a generic default, but they can be changed to the Shining Stars under Tag Victory Motion.
4 Money In The Bank Broken Ring Match
One of the coolest features that have appeared in the WWE 2K series is the ability to break them in a match between super heavyweights like Brock Lesnar and Big Show. However, once this happened every match would end in the destructive aftermath.
In WWE 2K19, you can start a brand new match in a broken ring by getting one of your superstars to cash in their Money in the Bank to set up an immediate match for the title. Just make sure your chosen Money in the Bank holder has the A.I cash in switched on in order to activate the match.
