The world of Grand Theft Auto certainly feels a lot like home. How could it not when it’s starting to look just like the world that we live in? GTA games don’t just depict the look and feel of the modern world, it also accurately depicts the dark and gritty facets of our modern society. It’s filled with characters that are as complicated as the world that they live in. We all know how deep and intricate our world can get but who would’ve thought that a virtual world could be just as complex?
With a world that’s this intricate, it’s only natural for it to be filled with hidden things that are buried deep within its files. It turns out that GTA games are just teeming with surprises that await fans who are just diligent enough to find them. This world might be brimming with secrets but this doesn’t mean that they were meant to be uncovered. Of course, some are just too unpolished that unlocking them could lead to bad results. However, fans are intrepid, persistent and clever enough to figure out a way to unearth these hidden content.
Although there are still features that were supposed to bring more fun and variety to this already epic game franchise. The fact that these were removed from the final game is quite befuddling considering how awesome the game could’ve been with them included. Here are 25 epic deleted content that the developers thought would remain buried but fans thought otherwise.
24 A Mini Problem
The Issi Classic resembles the iconic BMC Mini and was only available just recently via GTA Online. However, this popular compact vehicle was already in the much older GTA: Liberty City Stories game in the form of the Tommy. It’s a 2-door car that looks similar to the Issi Classic but it was removed from the final release of the game.
It’s small, sporty, and lots of fun!
This car still had its 3D model which could be accessed by digging through the game’s files. It would’ve been fun to use it earlier but better late than never, I guess.
23 Whip It Good
Pistol-whipping baddies in GTA V might seem fun but using an actual whip sounds a lot cooler. Anyone who has played Red Dead Redemption knows how fun it is to lasso criminals before hogtying them, all in the name of justice! Avid fans actually found a weapon icon resembling a whip hidden deep within the game’s files.
It’s a bummer that this weapon is nowhere to be seen in the actual game. Imagine all the possibilities that players would’ve had with this thing! Too bad this scenario will only remain in the imagination of the fans.
22 Skateboarding Isn’t A Crime
Riding mountain bikes is cool and all but using a skateboard to get around is a lot more awesome. Skateboards aren’t just more portable than bicycles, they can also double as a weapon too! Unfortunately, the idea of riding skateboards around GTA San Andreas didn’t exactly materialize in the final game.
Fans still unearthed traces of the skateboard item though, which even came with its very own melee weapon icon. While the skateboard item did make its way into GTA V years later, it’s still limited as an in-game prop, which isn’t much of a consolation either way.
21 A Train In The Sky
The ginormous Airbus known as the Airtrain appeared in games as early as GTA III. However, its function was only limited to just being an enormous prop. Of course, airbuses are already available in GTA V but fans could’ve enjoyed them much sooner.
Clever fans were able to enter it through glitches but they couldn’t do much once inside. Data of the Airtrain can still be found within the files of GTA San Andreas but the plane itself is basically removed from the game. It’s a shame since many planes were introduced in GTA SA except this iconic one.
20 Making Safes Feel Unsafe
GTA San Andreas introduced a slew of criminal activities aside from the usual grand theft auto. One of these included being able to rob houses at night. What some might not know is that players were supposed to crack open safes during one of these activities.
Safes aren’t truly safe whenever CJ is around.
Game data miners were able to find unused scripts of a safe-cracking minigame where the game’s protagonist CJ rotates a safe dial to figure out its passcode. While it might not be anything revolutionary, it still could’ve added more variety to an already epic game.
19 Don’t Fight Fire With Fire
GTA V might give players the freedom to set everything ablaze but sometimes, putting out fires is a lot more relaxing than causing it. This would’ve been possible if only usable fire extinguishers weren’t removed from the game. It might not make players look more threatening but at least using it won’t get them arrested.
Fire Extinguishers still exist in the game but only as in-game props. Some firefighters can even be seen actually using it in-game! It’s quite disappointing since players can’t do the same. Although some diligent fans were able to use the fire extinguisher through hacking tools.
18 Ghost Rider’s Bike
What makes big bikes cooler than they already are? By adding skulls and chains on them, of course! This fiendish motorcycle was buried deep within the GTA V game files. However, Its picture can still be seen in some in-game manuals found within Beeker’s Garage.
It looks like it’s driven by Ghost Rider himself.
The Sanctus bike is the only one that comes close to this monster of a motorcycle. Despite that, the Sanctus still doesn’t look as wicked. This one has horns for handlebars, dangling chains and a skull for headlights, what else can we ask for?
17 Laser Precision
Weapon modification is a neat addition in GTA V but it could’ve been better. How cool would it have been to add a little more realism and accuracy to its devastating arsenal with the help of laser sights? Script files of the game’s weapon attachments indicate that laser sights were supposed to be part of the game.
While the flashlight attachment could still serve as a fitting alternative, it still won’t be as cool as actual laser sights. After all, there’s no better way to send a message to enemies than flashing a red beam right between their eyes.
16 Keys To The Swamp
GTA Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti certainly has the keys to the city but what some might not know is that he’s supposed to get keys to the swampy marshes as well. Unused dialogue hidden within the game files suggest that there’s a mission that sends Tommy to a place called Gator Keys. This place is rumored to be a separate island outside of Vice City.
Having another island to visit is always a treat. Unfortunately, this island vanished from the game’s final map. Getting to this island is unlikely and the fact that Tommy can’t swim doesn’t help either.
15 Clowning Around
GTA V protagonists can wear tons of outlandish outfits but clown suits aren’t one of these. Trevor might not like clowns but one can’t deny that dressing him up as one could add another layer of fun to the game. In fact, both Michael and Trevor have their own wearable clown suits which are hidden in the game files, according to Kotaku.
It comes complete with annoyingly squeaky clown shoes.
There’s no better way to pester the game’s pedestrians than to annoy them while wearing a clown suit. If only there was a way to unlock them by normal means.
14 The Best Medicine
Some fans were disappointed at the lack of enterable buildings and interiors in GTA V. That being said, they will only be even more disappointed knowing that there’s supposed to be a full-fledged comedy club complete with performances from stand-up comedians. The problem is, it’s not exactly accessible.
Players found a way to glitch into the club only to find it abandoned and empty. It’s quite ironic for a place that’s supposed to be filled with laughter to look this creepy. It’s even more concerning why something this fun was left out in the first place.
13 From Gangster To Interior Designer
Players could let CJ be anyone they wanted him to be in GTA SA. They could make him fat, thin, or even learn a new martial art. As unlikely as it sounds, players could also turn a thug like CJ into a sophisticated interior designer! Until that feature was deleted, that is.
The game’s files reveal that there were supposed to be numerous shops and appliance stores where CJ could buy furniture. He can then use these items to decorate his safehouses. Oh well, there goes CJ’s hopes and dreams of living glamorously.
12 Tectonic Problems
GTA SA featured a world that was exceptionally realistic despite the limitations of gaming hardware at the time. Earthquakes were supposed to make the game even more realistic but these were unfortunately removed from the game’s final build. However, earthquakes can still be triggered in the game by altering certain files.
Fans found out that the earthquake level is zero by default but it can be increased to create massive tremors in San Andreas. Of course, doing so makes pedestrians shake uncontrollably and also causes other visual anomalies. Its unpolished state suggests that developers weren’t able to implement it properly.
11 All About Location
Fans who have played the earlier versions of GTA V might be wondering what happened to the numerous purchasable properties found within the Dynasty 8 website. The real estate website used to be accessible in singleplayer but now it’s just under construction. Buying properties was supposedly a feature in singleplayer until it was turned into an exclusive feature in GTA Online.
Trevor already has millions but still lives in his trailer because of this.
It’s always disappointing whenever a previous feature doesn’t make a return. However, it’s more frustrating if an already existing feature is locked away in another mode.
10 Frank And Dale
Franklin had some unique side missions in GTA V and more were supposed to materialize until a character named Dale was cut from the game. Dale’s encounter with Franklin can actually be seen in the game’s mission files. It involved an intoxicated Franklin chasing a mischievous Dale throughout the city.
While it might not be anything spectacular, at least it still sounds a hundred times better than the more mundane and boring side missions like delivering packages to Barry. Well, it looks like some encounters are just not meant to be.
9 Strangers Doing Strange Things
Franklin had a crazy aunt named Denise who had even crazier friends. One of Denise’s friends is a woman named Magenta. Players could actually see Magenta in one of the game’s missions. What they might not know is that she’s supposed to have a crazy encounter with Michael.
Mission files suggest that this encounter involves Magenta inviting Michael to join her for a wild night with a couple of seniors. The mere thought of this encounter might sound gross but Michael has so few side missions that these deleted ones just have to be part of the game.
8 Going To Prison
Observant fans know that there’s something that’s quite missing from San Fierro, GTA SA’s fictional representation of San Francisco. The famous crooked street is present and so is the iconic tram, but the famous prison island is nowhere to be seen. Luckily, fans have dug up files that suggest otherwise.
The game’s pre-release map shows that there was indeed an island similar to Alcatraz that was supposed to be stationed just outside of San Fierro Bay. It’s likely that the place would’ve involved tons of epic missions too if only it wasn’t removed from the final product.
7 The Truth Hurts
It’s always discouraging for fans to find a perfectly enjoyable mission that’s been deleted from the game. GTA SA originally had a mission called “The Truth Is Out There” and it supposedly sends players on a wild goose chase while avoiding the notorious men in black. Mission scripts and unused dialogue still linger within the game files.
It’s quite perplexing for something that’s this detailed to be just abandoned altogether. Perhaps the develops didn’t have enough time to flesh out the mission or maybe they just found it inappropriate. Either way, the truth is certainly somewhere out there.
6 Fan Service Denied
Seeing recurring characters from previous GTA games is always a treat and GTA V could certainly use more of these fan service. Unfortunately, a mission that was supposed to feature a familiar character from the series was removed from the game. The deleted mission called “Social Networking” involves Franklin meeting up with crazy steroid jock Brucie Kibbutz from GTA IV.
Franklin even gets to steal Brucie’s unique Stinger vehicle. Player’s just won’t be missing out on an epic encounter, they’ll also be missing out on using a unique sports car in the process!
5 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
One of GTA V’s most underwhelming moments was when Michael finally made it as a big-time film producer. It would’ve been great to actually spend more time in the studio as a film producer. Of course, it was supposedly more epic until certain missions were cut.
Mission files show that Michael should’ve had more missions involving producer Solomon Richards. This included Michael defending the film studio from threats as well as stealing a jet. It sounds like an epic Hollywood action movie! Unfortunately, Michael won’t be taking part in it any time soon and the same goes for the fans.
