Don’t get us wrong, custom items can be creative masterpieces. To be honest, it was difficult to find these odd and off-putting custom items when there are so many stunning creations out there.

So what do we mean by “custom” Disney toys? A custom toy is unofficial. Rather than being made in a factory somewhere, it was made by a fan or artist in their house or studio. Some of these are made from scratch while others took official toys and re-painted them.

Custom basically means that anyone can create these items. This brings out a diverse world of Disney items. Even if your dream Disney toy is not out there, you can likely pay an artist to custom make your dream toy for you. The possibilities are endless!

However endless possibilities mean mistakes. They mean strange toys. They mean toys that some people would prefer to stay in a locked closet. Or they are just so weird that they are kind of cool. You can like some of the toys on this list.

The nature of the internet and the limits of human creativity is what we have to thank for the items on this list. From redressed My Little Pony’s to repainted Littlest Pet Shop figures, here is our list of weird custom Disney toys.

24 Gundam Meets Toy Story

Now, this is weird but also very cool. Aside from Mr. Potato Head, the designer created Gundam versions of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Lotso, and the Aliens. Out of the gang of Gundam Toy Story characters, Mr. Potato Head definitely came out the most strange.

He is a goofy looking character, so he’s probably difficult to turn into a cool looking mech.

Well, if a giant mech of Mr. Potato Head ever looms over my city, I’ll be ready to perish.

23 Frost Groot

This is a Disney Infinity custom figure. Disney Infinity was a video game franchise meant to sell figurines. The player would collect the figurines to unlock different characters and features for the game. While Disney Infinity is no longer in the works and retired, it still has a decent fandom. Part of how the fandom stays alive is through custom figures.

So someone decided to put Olaf and Groot together. Why? No idea, but it’s weird. The quality looks pretty good though.

22 Walt Disney Vinylmation

Vinylmation is a brand of collectible figures that are typically sold at Disney’s theme parks. However, much like Disney Infinity figures, a ton of people make their own customized figures through repainting.

The brand itself can look off-putting already. It’s a character deformed into a Mickey Mouse shape. Most of them look like characters trapped in a Mickey-shaped cage.

This custom made Walt Disney is creepy. It’s the smile and how the chin is trying to break out of that round Mickey head.

21 Custom Judy Hopps Doll

Oh yes, this is the creepy zone.

This used to be a Rapunzel doll. If you look into the eyes long enough you can maybe see Rapunzel’s trapped soul in their somewhere. As for the ears, they were stolen from a teddy bear. The clothes were sprayed on. Her face is trapped in a mask of gray acrylic paint. Basically, this is a Frankenstein project.

Zootopia fans would be better off with a regular Judy Hopps stuffed toy or figurine. Maybe a kid would try this if their mom accidentally bought them Rapunzel when they truly wanted Judy Hopps.

20 Two-Headed Elsa And Anna

Unfortunately, we have discovered few answers when it comes to this monstrosity. Who? Someone on eBay sold it! Where? It was sold from the United States. Why? No idea.

What’s the story behind this?

Are they possessed by a demon? Why does Elsa look angry while Anna looks scared? Were they born like this or were they cursed? How was this doll made? What’s the idea behind it? It looks well made too, so no wonder it sold.

19 Littlest Pet Shop Mickey Mouse

The Littlest Pet Shop is a toy franchise that has evolved extensively since 1992. They basically make sickeningly adorable pet figurines. They can be recognized for their enormous heads and their eyes often take up ninety percent of their face.

Whatever this pet used to be, it’s now Mickey Mouse. Based on its expression and position, it probably used to be a puppy. It’s pretty off-putting to see Mickey pant and stare at you with those puppy-dog eyes.

18 Pony Ariel

First of all, there are amazing My Little Pony custom toys out there. It’s such a huge and dedicated fandom, that you can easily find a quality pony of any Disney character.

However, versions like this exist too. A lot are uncanny.

Her hair looks like spaghetti. It’s hard to decide which is worse between her tail that is obviously hiding pony legs or her top. The top shows a gross misrepresentation of equestrian antimony if you know what I mean.

17 Monster Anatomy

If you were a doctor or surgeon, this would be a very cool desk toy. We have to agree it’s weird though. The artist has an entire figurine shop where they cut open characters to show their anatomy as they did here with Sully from Disney’s Monsters Inc. It’s not just Disney figurines though; they have done CatDog, Mario, and Hello Kitty. If you’re not a figure kind of person, there are also posters.

Sully definitely would have been better at his scaring job if he normally looked like this.

16 The Grinch As A Car

This is way stranger than the My Little Pony customs. Thank goodness that Cars does not have the same level of dedicated fans as the My Little Pony show does. If it did, we would not just have this weird Grinch car. We would have Walking Dead cars, Disney princess cars, and so many OCs (original characters) with their own fanfiction.

Cars just are not meant to be fluffy guys.

How did someone think of combining The Grinch and Cars?

15 Moana L.O.L. Surprise Doll

L.O.L. Surprise Dolls were made by the same company that made Bratz dolls back in the 2000s. The surprising part about them is that they come in a capsule and you don’t know what kind of doll, pet, or accessories that are inside.

Someone turned one of these L.O.L. Surprise Dolls into Moana and it looks undeniably strange. You wouldn’t know it’s Moana if her name wasn’t in the picture. The marriage between Moana and L.O.L. Surprise Dolls just wasn’t meant to be.

14 Freddy Mickey Mouse

Someone who is a horror and Disney fan may like this item. Still, it’s a very strange combination. There are plenty of scary Mickeys out there just due to the fact that they are vintage and have creepy smiles. This figurine is another story though.

This Mickey was part of a Disney exhibition in Seoul, Korea.

Freddy Mickey wasn’t alone, as the artist also made a Jason with a removable mask. So there was a Freddy vs. Jason theme going on.

13 Jack Sparrow Pony

This was a custom made from one of the older versions of My Little Pony. Some characters look better as ponies than others. Princess Leia from Star Wars, for example, can make a cute custom pony or Disney’s Rapunzel.

This Jack Sparrow pony just looks odd. The facial hair is weird on a horse body. A lot of work obviously went into him though so a big Johnny Depp or Pirates of the Caribbean would probably love to give this pony a home.

12 Vinylmation Br’er Bear, Br’er Fox, And Vulture

These characters were nightmare fuel on their own, but trapping them in Mickey shaped bodies’ just ups their scariness.

They’re from Splash Mountain, a Disney ride based on Song of the South.

“I think the characters from Song of the South and Splash Mountain are underutilized,” wrote the artist. “I know Disney likes to pretend that the film doesn’t exist, but I’m pretty shocked that we haven’t gotten a single park figure based on Splash Mountain yet.”

11 Equestria Girl Cruella De Vil

My Little Pony is so popular that another show exists of the same characters, except not as ponies. These are called Equestria Girls. They sell plenty of dolls, much like the ponies.

So this custom Cruella is actually a repainted Equestria girl. Try not to think too hard about it or else you’ll start thinking it’s just an Equestrian skin-walker. The original eyes were huge, and the artist tried to keep it natural by covering the eyes with make-up.

10 Littlest Pet Shop Simba

This is one of the lesser offensive items on our list. Simba is a lion and a repaint of a cat from the Littlest Pet Shop can work. However, the style is so jarring for Simba.

Would fans really know the difference between just a normal Little Pet Shop lion versus this repaint of Simba?

Once you give Simba anime eyes, he will not look like Simba anymore. He’d just be a lion with anime eyes. It’s still a super cute figure though.

9 Equestrian Maui Shark

Yes, that is half of a Pinkie Pie’s Equestrian Girl figure repainted and glued to half of a shark. Pinkie Pie can work as Maui with just a bit of repaint, right? No. This custom toy is a huge stretch from what it’s trying to be. Maui is a big guy so you can’t repaint a skinny girl to achieve his greatness. The hair color is wrong, the tattoos are wrong, and the body shape is painfully far from Maui’s.

8 Snow White Bomb

A common trend in custom Disney items is they have content that Disney would never support since they ultimately serve children most of all.

So it’s up to individuals to make a sculpture of Snow White holding a grenade.

She’s not completely transformed though. She’s still wearing her iconic princess garb, which makes the grenade and mask even more striking. We only have our imaginations to determine the story behind this piece. It’s well made, but certainly strange.

7 Olaf Bucket

This is a purely innocent custom item. If you don’t have time to go online and get your kid an Olaf bucket (because there are definitely official ones out there), then maybe this custom-made bucket is the best you can do.

Despite its innocence, we are still tearing into it. Compared to the other items on this list, it’s not well made. You can tell when the bucket begins and ends. Due to that, there is a stark contrast between the two sides of Olaf’s face.

6 Darth Mike

Yet another strange Disney Infinity custom figure. Becoming a Sith makes you monstrous but we were not really taught about what happens if you were already a monster. The change of eye color for Siths is typically just a little detail. For Mike, it’s big since he’s about ninety percent eyeball.

This is just an odd choice for a crossover.

What conversation or brainstorm happened that created this figure? One this is true though: this makes Mike scarier.

5 Marvel Legends Style Beast

Admittedly, this one is cool. A ton of work went into this figure. On Youtube, the artist detailed how a lot of the figure was hand-molded and painted by him.

As for what wasn’t hand-molded, he mashed a bunch of other various action figures together and repainted them. So he’s not just a beast anymore, but Frankenstein’s monster now too. That might explain why it looks a little odd. If your small child got this figure, they’d probably start crying since Beast looks like a Marvel villain.
