The Star Wars franchise revolutionized the toy and collectible industry. Long-time fans of the series can get an incredible variety of figures, costumes, accessories for their collection. It’s a great way to show the world how much you love Star Wars—and get your children to love it as well! From Legos to plushies and action figures, there’s loads of choice for young Star Wars enthusiasts out there. The problem is, well, sometimes these toys don’t quite look like the character they depict—and by not quite, I mean not at all.

Whether it’s a vintage figure that just hasn’t aged well, a lopsided action figure, a weirdly Disneyified character, a costume that looks like the stuff of bad dreams, or simply a character that really doesn’t work as Lego, plushie, etc., you’ll find an unfortunate amount of licensed Star Wars toys that will make you go “Wait… what?”. Some of these are definitely more outrageous than others, and some fans especially deplore the treatment Disney has inflicted on their favorite characters. It’s already odd enough to think that Leia is a Disney princess now—we don’t need to see her with Mickey Mouse ears on top of that!

There’s no denying that some of the entries on this list are really quite cute, but for a lot of them, well, let’s just say we were glad the name was on the box. Here are 25 licensed Star Wars toys that look nothing like the character!

25 The Mickey Mouse Treatment

These Vinylmation figures from The Last Jedi feature odd facial expressions, but also, more noticeably, Mickey Mouse ears.

I think it’s safe to say that this is one of the things we were all afraid of when Disney acquired Star Wars.

There’s something quite disconcerting about seeing a 3-inch-tall Luke Skywalker with Disney’s iconic mouse ears. Show these to a long-time fan, and you can be sure they’ll react in anger and confusion. Actually, maybe it’s better you don’t show them.

24 This Poor Porg Really Shouldn’t Have Been A Lego

When Disney released the first images of Porgs, the irritating yet adorable bird-like creatures from Ahch-To, fans were divided. Some thought they were impossibly cute, while others were annoyed, as it seemed like the movies were desperately trying to find a “cute” critter to replace Ewoks—and to sell toys. Of course, if the Porgs really were made to sell merch, that strategy worked: who wouldn’t want to have a Porg plushie? One thing we can all agree on, however, is that they definitely don’t work as Lego.

23 The Last… Bricks?

Rey doesn’t seem to look too good in Lego form either—especially not in “Brickheadz” form. Don’t get me wrong, this toy is cute.

However, it’s a bit of a stretch to say it looks like Rey.

Maybe it’s the hair, or the overly large eyes that seem to be staring into your soul, but there’s something a little unsettling about this figure. In any case, while the lightsaber is a nice touch, it’s undeniable the figure doesn’t really do the character justice.

Poor Chewie features a few times on this list—toymakers just can’t seem to get him right. This particular action figure gives us a wiry, plastic-y Chewbacca that honestly looks more like Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy at a distance. While it’s, of course, hard to create a plastic toy that accurately recreates the furry Wookie’s look, you’d think they would have at least tried a little harder to get the iconic character right. At least the look on his face is somewhat accurate!

21 Something Wicket This Way Comes

Porgs aren’t the only cute plushies that Disney fans can acquire. You’ll find many toys representing Ewoks, the furry, teddy-bear-like creatures who populate the moon of Endor. Unfortunately, recreating them as actual teddy bears doesn’t seem to work out most of the time. There are many odd-looking Ewok and Wicket Plushies, and while this one is definitely not the worst, it is licensed, which means it should be a bit more accurate. This poor plushie’s “eyemask” makes it look like some odd Ewok/raccoon hybrid!

20 They Really Can’t Seem To Get Chewie Right…

Here’s another Chewbacca toy that looks nothing like the fearless Wookie. Sure, Wookies kinda look like giant teddies (although we wouldn’t recommend giving one a hug), but Chewbacca has almost certainly never looked this friendly. It seems like they’ve tried a bit too hard to make this interactive Chewbacca toy cute and kid-friendly. From his affable smile to his eyes that are definitely way bigger than they are in the movies, this Chewbacca doesn’t really seem right. It is adorable, though, I’ll give Disney that.

19 And You Thought Jabba Couldn’t Get Any Uglier

Jabba the Hutt, the Tattooine crime lord, is known for being ugly and generally sort of gross-looking. After all, he is basically a giant slug—so it’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to dress up as him in the first place.

If you did want to dress up as Jabba, though, this costume would be an odd choice—unless you were specifically going for a funny costume.

Between the raised “eyebrow” and the awkwardly printed details, this inflatable Jabba is unquestionably ugly, even for a Hutt.

18 Chewie, Is That You?

We’re honestly not sure. If this had just been a sleeping bag, it might have been okay—but the fact that it’s wearable is a bit baffling. It looks quite unpractical, for one, both as a wearable item and as a sleeping bag, but more importantly, without the printed bandolier belt, it would be very hard to tell that this is meant to be Chewbacca. His Wookie fur didn’t look great as plastic, and it definitely doesn’t look very good printed, either. To be entirely fair to this sleeping bag, it does look warm—but it doesn’t look like Chewbacca.

17 The Aftermath Of Carbonite, Maybe

In a day and age where increasingly realistic figures are being produced, this vintage Han Solo toy seems a bit out of place. It just hasn’t aged very well, and it doesn’t really look like Han. Out of context, I’m not quite sure I would have guessed this is Han Solo. Maybe it’s the brown pants, but he almost looks more like Indiana Jones! It’s a collectable, and it definitely has value, but it’s hard to say that it looks like the famous intergalactic smuggler

16 What Happened To Their Faces?

This officially licensed Star Wars pencil case might have been great for young Star Wars fans, if the character’s faces hadn’t been oddly stretched. While Finn and Rey aren’t exactly unrecognizable here, their faces are stretched in a weird, unsettling way.

Rey’s face especially is almost scary.

I’m not saying this pencil case would give you bad dreams, but I wouldn’t place it on my bedside table when I sleep, either. It’s definitely not as bad as some of the other toys on this list, but it’s not the most accurate depiction.

15 We Can’t Even Tell Who This Is Supposed To Be

Yet again, it’s a good thing we found a picture of the box this toy came in, else we’re not sure we would have known this is meant to be Bala-Tik from The Force Awakens. While his armour isn’t too bad, his face is what could only be described as generic. He could have been Han Solo or any other white male character in Star Wars, and it really wouldn’t have made much of a difference. The creature he comes with is also hard to recognize, adding to the general confusion surrounding this toy.

14 Even The Dark Side Couldn’t Have Transformed Him That Much

Characters who turn to the dark side often end up hideously deformed, their external appearance matching their inner monstrosity. Darth Vader is burned by lava, the Emperor is disfigured by lightning, and, well, we’re not sure about Supreme Leader Snoke, but he’s not exactly pleasant to look at, either.

With his scar, Kylo Ren has it relatively easy.

This inflatable Kylo, however? Not so much. Once again, it’s almost hard to tell who this is supposed to be! Kylo Ren’s mask especially looks very odd when it’s inflated like this.

13 Something’s Not Right With Her Hair

Generally speaking, while this figure may not look like the Princess Leia we know from the films, it could have looked pretty close to her Forces of Destiny incarnation. The only problem is that her hair looks oddly stiff, almost like a helmet, with a strangely placed hairline to boot.

In fact, her hair looks so bad it almost makes the character hard to recognize!

Which is really too bad, because the included R2-D2 toy actually looks pretty good. Definitely better than seeing her with Mickey Mouse ears, but still, overall not a great depiction of Leia.

12 Qi’Ra Did Not Look This Old

When it was announced that Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke would be playing Qi’Ra in the Star Wars prequel/origin story Solo, some were worried that they’d only see Daenerys Targaryen on screen. After all, Emilia Clarke is such a good fit for the Mother of Dragons, it’s hard to imagine her as someone else. While Clarke very much succeeded in making Qi’Ra a complex, 3-dimensional character, toymakers managed to make this figure look neither like Emilia Clarke nor like Qi’Ra, which is a bit of a shame.

11 Please, No More Legos!

Yes, it’s another Chewbacca. And this time, he’s a Lego. Much like the Porg from earlier, Chewie isn’t quite suited to Lego form, and much like the action figure from earlier, this Chewbacca seems very different from the huge, furry Wookie we all know and love. His fearsome expression looks pretty good, but the painted fur and robotic-looking limbs…not so much. At least they didn’t give him enormous eyes in an effort to make him look cute and appealing—but it still doesn’t really look like Chewbacca. His Lego minifigure honestly looks a lot better!

10 Don’t Inflict This Star Wars Costume On Your Dog…

Some fans don’t stop at figurines or plushies, or even costumes for their kids—that’s why you can buy Star Wars costumes for your dog. While undeniably cute, this Dewback with Sandtrooper pet costume really doesn’t look anything like the characters. Leaving aside the fact that it’s a bit ludicrous to see a Sandtrooper riding a dog, the green costume you’d be making your poor dog wear looks nothing like a dewback—if you manage to get your dog in the costume, that is.

9 …Nor This One

The same can be said of this Bantha with Tusken Raider costume. Provided you manage to get the headpiece, the bodysuit, and the Tusken Raider doll on Fido, the whole thing will look cute, but not very accurate. Again, there’s something a little grotesque about a Tusken Raider on a dog (or about a Tusken Raider plushie for that matter). Not to mention, you just know that thing would fall off all the time, leaving your dog with nothing but a brown saddle and some horns.

8 His Poor Cape

Lando Calrissian is a beloved Star Wars character, and fans were happy to see more of him in Solo. There’s a lot to say about Lando, but, among other things, everybody knows that he’s very vain. Lando Carlissian is especially proud of his collection of capes, and he looks great in them! That’s why it’s almost painful to see this vintage Lando figurine, with his sad “cape” which is really a piece of rigid plastic sticking up like a shield behind his back.

7 Yoda, This Is Not

Yoda is meant to look wise and inspiring, not cute and cuddly, so it’s a bit odd to imagine a Yoda pillow. This character pillow manages to be both cute and creepy, thanks to its odd posture and its strange eyes.

The eyes are really the worst part here, as they look nothing like the old Jedi Master’s.

It’s almost like someone tried to give him human eyes! Not only does this pillow not look like Yoda, I don’t think I would want to sleep next to it at night.

6 A Spooky Grin

The Mighty Muggs collection has released some great toys, and this Princess Leia figure would actually be really cute, if only her smile wasn’t so creepy.

There’s no denying it feels wrong to see Leia Organa, who’s the very definition of a tragic character, grin like a madwoman.

The position of her arms is also strikingly weird, and, all in all, there’s definitely something odd about this Star Wars figurine. Though her iconic buns ensure she’s easy to recognize, it’s hard to associate this toy with the Princess Leia we know!
