Earlier today, indie developer Cogwheel Software and publisher Daedelic Entertainment released their 2D sci-fi thriller, Hidden Deep, into Steam Early Access on PC.

Accompanying the news was a new launch trailer showcasing the atmospheric action-horror experience in all its glory. Go ahead and check out said footage down below:

Combining the tense atmosphere of Ridley Scott’s Alien with the 2D exploration of a Metroidvania like Axiom Verge, Hidden Deep is an eerie trip into the bowels of the earth where something sinister is looking below. In essence, it’s a bit like Spelunky, but with more, well… horrifying monsters that want to eat your face off.

Thankfully, players will be outfitted with a handful of nifty gadgets, weaponry and vehicles to help them on their explorative journey into the unknown. Primarily a single-player campaign, Hidden Deep also boasts an extra Challenge Mode for single-player, as well as online and local co-op play.
