343 Industries is keeping mum on the subject of a Halo 6 release date, but the developer has given its strongest hint yet that the Xbox One juggernaut shooter may not hit stores in 2018 as many had hoped.
The studio hinted as much in a blog post to the community, where it teased it has a number of ‘fun times’ and ‘adventures’ on the slate for 2018. While that sounds promising, it followed up with a more soul-crushing, ‘no, not those adventures,’ which is probably dev speak for ‘don’t loose your shit folks, Halo 6 ain’t happening this year.’
‘Welcome back! To be frank (or Grim, really), I’m not sure if that’s a welcome back to us, or you guys, but let’s go with it either way. 2018 has arrived and with it, the promise of new fun times to be had and adventures to be embarked upon. No, not those adventures, but plenty of exciting ones regardless – some which might surprise you more than others,’ the post reads.
It’s been nearly three years since players strapped back on Master Chief’s boots for Halo 5: Guardians, and while we still don’t officially know when the sequel will arrive, it’s likely we will at least get our first glimpse at Halo 6 this year.
In the meantime, there’s always the Halo TV show to look out for, which is still in active development despite not showing its face nearly five years after its initial reveal.
