It was only yesterday that 343 Industries began talking about the concerns over Halo Infinite‘s Battle Pass. The fight for higher rank has been a struggle, and players have expressed disappointment in the grind. Getting presented with the option of spending more than 200 hours to hit rank 100, or spending cash for XP boosts, didn’t make many people happy. 343 said it was looking into the feedback, and late last night said that changes to the Halo Infinite Battle Pass will begin this week.

It’s a quick turnaround, but it’s hard to know what affect the changes will make. However, we do have an idea of what it will look like. Taking to Twitter, John Junyszek, the Halo community manager, wrote that “targeting tunings” are coming. The first change out the gate will be a new challenge: “Play 1 Game.” Completing a single match will likely offer more XP, which Junyszek writes will “help make sure you consistently progress through the Battle Pass by playing matches the way you want.” He also wrote about what additional changes are coming.

“We’ll also be adjusting, fixing bugs with, and removing some Weekly Challenges based on your feedback,” he wrote. “These tunings to challenge difficulty will help you progress through Weekly Challenges faster and thus directly speed up your progress through the Battle Pass.”

Halo Infinite Battle Pass changes: Challenges and XP boosts

Junyszek continued in the Twitter thread, going over what the changes will cover. After the update hits this week, the game will reset all your Challenges, “including your progress towards Weekly ones.” But don’t fret over the loss of progress. As an apology for setting your Challenges back to zero, 343 is offering this week’s Ultimate Reward for free: the Sigil Mark VII Visor. To get it, all you need to do is play the game from November 23 to November 30.

There are also alterations coming to the XP boosts. Generally, two-times XP boosts in Halo Infinite stay active for 30 minutes, which cover only a few matches at best (and maybe less with BTB). Instead, the boosts will last an hour.

We’ll be watching these changes closely to make sure they have the positive impact we all want on your progression,” Junyszek continued. “This is only our first step – we are committed to continue evolving these systems but it will take time. Thanks for joining our beta, and keep the feedback coming!”
