Executions. They give Gears of War 3 that special flair in multiplayer that other online shooters just can’t emulate. What better way to get excited for the last game in the trilogy than checking out all the executions possible in the game’s multiplayer? Props to YouTube user, Doominated, for taking the time out of his Gears of War 3 beta playing to gather all these brutal kills on video.

Upon viewing the video, you’ll notice most of the executions are brand new, with the exception of only a handful of weapons. New to the series is the ability to beat the enemy to death to your heart’s content, rather than just the quick 1-2-3 from Gears 2. In addition, the once talked about Locust execution of ripping off someone’s arm and beating them to death has been included.

As discussed in our Gears of War 3 beta tournament victory recap from an event hosted by Xbox Canada and our first hands-on with the Gears 3 beta, executions are performed differently this time around: Players will have to hold the Y button on a downed opponent to perform the execution, tapping the Y button will initiate the regular curb stomp. It does look like you can change the controller scheme as Doominated opted to, which allowed him to click the Right Stick to execute.

It’s good to see some of the older executions remain unchanged - who didn’t enjoy spinning the Boltok around after pistol whipping someone straight in the head?

All the executions do have a flair that would only be made possible with that specific weapon. Most of them involve your opponent’s head disappearing but the scorcher special is one you should look out for. If something’s big and bulky, why wouldn’t the best way to kill someone be smashing it into their head?

With the beta started and getting a large positive response, Gears of War 3 looks like it’s going to be seeing a lot of online action when the final product releases later this year.

Gears of War 3 releases September 20, 2011 exclusively for the Xbox 360.
