Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the new hit action-adventure game that follows the path of a Shinobi. Without a doubt, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is overall more difficult than developer FromSoftware’s previous games. The Dark Souls series, however, includes some of the most challenging bosses in gaming, threats that can be more difficult than anything in Sekiro.

The original Dark Souls released in 2011. Players are returning to it and are still struggling, despite having played it before. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice may be more difficult overall (that debate’s going to rage on), but some of Dark Souls’ boss fights are rougher than anything you might encounter in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

10 Ornstein and Smough- Tougher Than Sekiro

Dark Souls’ Ornstein and Smough are widely regarded as the most challenging boss in the first game. Fighting two formidable bosses at once adds to the complexity of the battle. Only a few pillars to hide behind leaves players with nowhere to run from Executioner Smough and Dragon Slayer Ornstein.

Ornstein and Smough are way more difficult than any boss in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. There are lots of strategies to cheese the different bosses in Sekiro, but there are few tricks to beat Ornstein and Smough.

9 Taurus Demon- Easier Than Sekiro

The Taurus Demon is without a doubt easier than bosses from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game seems to get more complicated after you conquer the Taurus Demon. People who haven’t played the game may have trouble climbing the ladder.

Merely climbing the ladder to the top of the tower and performing a jump strike can take out a significant amount of the Taurus Demon’s health bar. The boss is big and bulky, so slashing and fleeing makes the battle easy.

8 Bed Of Chaos- Tougher Than Sekiro

A dramatic intro video prepares you for what is one of the most challenging bosses in Dark Souls. The boss is tricky, since the method to defeat Bed of Chaos is unlike other Dark Souls bosses. You’ll have to walk inside the Bed of Chaos at some point to destroy his last demonic bug.

Bed of Chaos is considered more difficult than bosses in Sekrio: Shadows Die Twice because of how complicated defeating the boss is. Hack and slash won’t work when facing the Bed of Chaos, but a bow and arrow will assist you.

7 Moonlight Butterfly- Easier Than Sekiro

Unless you have decent projectile weapons, defeating the Moonlight Butterfly from the original Dark Souls is going to be hard. During the beginning of the fight, you won’t have an opportunity to use a sword against her. Projectiles will aid you, even though they do little damage.

If you are good at dodging projectile attacks in narrow spaces, then you shouldn’t have a problem with Moonlight Butterfly. The other 99.9998% of people will drink Estus Flasks like crazy and want to call it quits.

6 Pontiff Sulyvahn- Tougher Than Sekiro

Pontiff Sulyvahn is waiting for you when you enter the church in Irithull of the Boreal Valley. Many will be caught off guard by this powerful foe. Using both his spirit-blessed sword and his flaming blade, Pontiff Sulyvahn strikes definitively with unrestrained combos.

The battle is quite fulfilling once you finally beat him, but those who are not adept at Dark Souls will struggle with this battle. You’ll have to defeat Pontiff to progress further in the game. Fortunately, most players will have a decent weapon at this point in the game to aid you in combat.

5 Soul Of Cinder- Easier Than Sekiro

Compared to Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, the final boss of the first Dark Souls, Soul of Cinder is a cakewalk. Dark Souls 3 is considered to be the easiest of the three Dark Souls games, but it was still highly enjoyable.

By comparison, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice bosses are way more difficult than Soul of Cinder. Considering it’s the last boss of the game, the developers at From Software could have made it more of a challenge. Unless your character was severely under-leveled, Soul of Cinder was easy—maybe the easiest of Dark Souls 3.

4 Ancient Dragon- Tougher Than Sekiro

Sometimes looks can be deceiving in Dark Souls. The Ancient Dragon in Dark Souls 2, however, is one of the series’ most difficult bosses. Ancient Dragon is more difficult than anything you’ll encounter in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

There are too many reasons why Ancient Dragon is difficult. For starters, some people are caught off guard because this boss talks to you before the battle. Ancient Dragon has a ton of health, so you’ll want to get as many strikes as possible before his first attack. It is recommended to use Gold Pine Resin, which is effective against dragons, to get through this battle. You’ll need all the help you can get to defeat one of Dark Souls’ most massive dragons.

3 Pinwheel- Easier Than Sekiro

Dark Souls’ easiest boss has to be Pinwheel. A dramatic cutscene before the battle doesn’t fit with the this boss and how easy it is to defeat. In Dark Souls, Pinwheel is more of an outlier, since the game is usually difficult.

Pinwheel in Dark Souls is a piece of cake and maybe the easiest boss in the entire series. Its attacks deal less damage and it seems to accumulate more damage than most other bosses. Luckily, though, it appears as if the Dark Souls series has gravitated away from super easy bosses.

2 Gwyn, Lord Of Cinder: Harder Than Sekiro

Gwyn, Lord of Cinder is much harder than anything you will encounter in the first Dark Souls game. The first Dark Souls game is likely the most impactful game in the series. From Software’s previous game, Demon’s Souls, had many similarities to Dark Souls but was not nearly as widespread.

As a game that was made famous for being exceedingly difficult, the final boss in Dark Souls gave players the most trouble. For some, other bosses were more difficult, but for many, Gwyn, Lord Of Cinder is the hardest boss in all of Dark Souls.

1 Asylum Demon- Easier Than Sekiro

As the first boss you encounter in the game, the Asylum Demon can be easy or hard depending on your experience in action role-playing games. During your second playthrough, however, Asylum Demon is an easy boss to beat. Your weapon and armor variety is limited at this point in the game, so you’ll have to rely on skill.

Carefully using a jump strike on the Asylum Demon will take out almost half of the boss’s health. After this, you’ll only need to land a few more hits to slay the Asylum Demon. His low amount of health and vulnerable sides make the Asylum Demon one of the easiest Dark Souls bosses yet.
