Modding communities have a few staples, like random Thomas the Tank Engine mods, but there’s more to be admired for their creativity than anything else. So, when Red Dead Redemption 2 announced it was coming to PC, many were excited for all the mods that could be made.

Since then, plenty of Red Dead Redemption 2 mods have made their way online and introduced everything from new graphics and designs to mechanics and throwbacks for the franchise. Sorting through these can be a bit of a pain, but for those interested, here are 5 RDR2 mods players should download.

Arthur Morgan-Fleck Mod

Joker made a real splash in theaters, so it should come as no surprise that many took this new Joker design and ran with it. Joker challenges have appeared in Fortnite, the iconic stairs have been remade in game engines like Far Cry 5, one fan even edited Mortal Kombat 11’s Joker to look like Joaquin Phoenix, and so it should come as no surprise that Red Dead Redemption 2 modders have turned Arthur Morgan into Arthur Fleck, the latest Joker to appear in films.

This RDR2 Joker Mod replaces Arthur Morgan’s face texture with something more akin to Arthur Fleck’s appearance. It doesn’t necessarily capture how Fleck’s makeup mimics and highlights his madness, but it’s a really thorough capture of the Joker nonetheless.

Undead Nightmare 2 Mod

For months, many held out hope that Red Dead Redemption 2 would receive some zombie DLC such as Undead Nightmare 2, yet while many waited anxiously, one modder took it upon himself to make it a reality. Of course, this isn’t the legitimate DLC, but it may be the closest fans get. What’s more, though, is that this RDR2 mod is beautifully done and has received a ton of praise, and as show in the video above, the zombie combat looks intense and the town interactions are everything fans want it to be.

Soul Stealing Mod

Otherwise known as a play as NPC, play as animal, or just generally play as anything mod, this Red Dead Redemption 2 mod does just that. Players are able to “steal souls” and jump into other beings in order to explore the world of RDR2, and while this type of gameplay isn’t for everyone, it’s definitely something to change up the experience. After all, what better way is there to explore the Wild West, excluding from the eyes of an outlaw, than through its denizens and its creatures, with animals that can fly even being a potential soul to explore the game world with.

Red Hot Redemption 2

Perhaps one of the most unique mods release so far was made by Xorberax Maximustachio and essentially combines Red Dead Redemption 2 with Superhot. In this mod, time only moves when players move, adding a new level of tactical gameplay to the otherwise straightforward RDR2. This mod likely takes some getting used to and doesn’t appear to be as deadly as the combat situations of Superhot, but it may prove to be a solid chance of pace for those wanting some fresh.

Arthur Morgan, the Pyromancer

While Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t necessarily shy away from supernatural elements like aliens, it’s practically a straightforward and highly realistic game. To change that up, this mod gives players telekinetic and pyrokinetic powers, allowing them to life and move objects with their mind and blow stuff at will as well. Needless to say, this can lead to some hilarious and fun situations.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
