An impressive 6.2 million PS4 console units were sold during the 2016 holiday season, dating November 20 to the year end, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced.

Sony hasn’t revealed the sales breakdown between PS4 old, PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro.

The holiday sales brings the system’s cumulative sold through figure to more than 53.4 million units globally as of January 1, 2017.

“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

House continued: “We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high quality gaming experience on PlayStation 4 Pro, while also expanding network services. We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”

Furthermore, Sony announced that PS4 software sales during the holiday season were more than 50.4 million units worldwide in retail stores and through digital downloads on PSN. Uncharted 4 got a special mention, selling more than 8.7 million copies globally as of December 21, 2016.
