If Game of Thrones has taught us anything, it’s that a king or queen needs to sit on an awesome looking chair in order to be taken seriously. It seems that Reggie Fils-Aimé was less concerned with the comfort and grandeur of his chair during his tenure as the COO and president of Nintendo of America, as the photos he took during his last days in office revealed that he used a basic office chair made by Herman Miller throughout his time with the company.
The fans of Reggie who were shocked by his subpar seating arrangement decided to take to the Internet in order to provide one last gift for the retired Regginator. A petition was created on Change.org for Reggie to receive a higher quality Herman Miller chair than what he had been using during his tenure at Nintendo. The petition quickly achieved over twenty-three thousand signatures and someone at Herman Miller took note.
Reggie has revealed on Twitter that the petition worked and that he is being sent an Aeron chair from Herman Miller due to the fan response. As of the time of writing, Reggie has yet to receive the chair, though he has promised to share pictures of it when it finally arrives.
Reggie retired from his position at Nintendo on April 15, which was around the time that he finally decided to create a personal Twitter account. The fans can keep up with Reggie’s retirement on Twitter, which has so far consisted of public speaking engagements about his career. It seems that Reggie isn’t the kind of guy who is content to spend his retirement doing nothing, so it’s possible that the fancy new chair will go unused.
The outpouring of love for Reggie shows how much the fans cared for him and how they will miss him now that he has left Nintendo. The chair is one final gift from the fans, which means that Reggie will finally have a high-quality seat for his office, where he can relax and reminisce about all of the times that he prevented Mother 3 from being localized into English.
