Activision was this evening unable to confirm whether hotly anticipated shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released simultaneously in the US and Europe.

Activision and Infinity Ward closed out the Game Developers Conference Awards in San Francisco last night with the first trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, revealing a November 10 release date.

The trailer features no gameplay, but you do get to see a green waveform bouncing around and transforming into various human silhouettes. You also see the Modern Warfare 2 logo, before the release date appears. See it for yourself right here.

November 10 is a Tuesday, traditionally the day of the week games are released in the US. In Europe, games tend to come out on Fridays.

When contacted by VideoGamer.com for information on the EU release date, Activision was unable to elaborate. A spokesperson said: “With regard to MW2, I’m afraid that we only have the info which was in the trailer and the release, but the release date is as stated.”

We reckon it’ll be out on November 13, the Friday following the trailer date. Last year’s phenomenally successful Call of Duty: World at War was released on Tuesday November 11 in the US and on Friday November 14 in Europe.

Update: Now confirmed for a worldwide release on November 10.
