Adam Boyes, the Vice President of PlayStation’s third-party relations, is leaving Sony to become an independent developer.
Boyes made the announcement on Twitter, where he said: “After an incredible journey here at PlayStation, I’ve made the very hard decision to return to the world of game development!”
Other industry professionals quickly wished him the best for the future, with Xbox head Phil Spencer tweeting: “Best of luck in your new endeavors my friend. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the next step in your career.”
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon added that everyone at NetherRealm wished him “the best of luck & look forward to hearing about your next chapter”.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Boyes joined Sony in 2012 having previously been a board member at Starbreeze. Prior to that he worked as the president of a video game production company and director of production at Capcom. He also served various roles at Midway, Next Level Games and EA.
