With the need and popularity of high-capacity, high-performance external storage rising, Adata has announced a brand new line of external SSDs coming to the consumer market.
Weighing in at just 95g (3.35oz), the Adata SE760 external SSD is powered by 3D NAND Flash and features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface that will allow speeds of up to 10GBps. The drives will be available in three different capacities — 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB — and come in two colors, titanium gray and black. They will be packaged with both a USB C to C and USB C to A cable.
The SSD will also feature a power indicator light, and it comes with a three-year limited warranty for peace of mind with users.
Who can use the SE760?
When it comes to compatibility, Adata states that the SE760 will work out of the box with Windows, Mac OS, and Android devices, allowing quick plug-and-play action. The company’s website shows a picture of the new SSD next to a PlayStation 4, but there was no mention of the drive being compatible with either the PS4 or Xbox One. That said, it will support the installation and running of games on connected devices. However, Adata does warn that modifying the disk formant may be required before connecting the drive to a specific device for game usage.
For those more interested in multimedia storage than gaming, the SE760’s 1,000 MBs read speed will allow users to transfer a 10GB 4K movie in just 10 seconds. Adata claims that it will run up to 12.5-times faster than a traditional external hard drive depending on the device that the user attempts to connect.
Despite the announcement of the new SSDs, Adata has yet to reveal a price for the drives. That information is expected to come right before release due to the ever-fluctuating pricing of 3D NAND-based storage devices.
