Nintendo has announced it’s bringing back a classic handheld strategy series in Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Revealed during last night’s Nintendo E3 Showcase, the turn-based strategy game will be returning with a fresh lick of paint. You’ll be leading the Orange Star Army into turn-based combat across a series of battlefields. Along the way, you’ll be taking on enemy squads, capturing towns and using special CO abilities unique to each Commander.

For example, Andy’s ability allows him to repair units while Sami boosts the abilities of your forces. Your opponents will have their own abilities too of course, and it’ll be down to you to figure out the best way to counter them. Once defeated, you’ll be able to take them into battle in the game’s Versus mode and battle other players.

As the name implies, the remaster will cover the first two games in the series:  Advance Wars and its sequel Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, both of which launched on the Game Boy Advance in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Development is being handled by WayForward studio, known for their work on the Shantae series and on DuckTales: Remastered.
