Ben Affleck will only direct a standalone Batman film, tentatively titled The Batman, if everything falls into place.
Speaking to The Guardian about his plans to direct the film, Affleck said: “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script.”
He continued: “If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”
Affleck made his debut as Batman in Zack Snyder’s commercially successful Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it appears the star is using his considerable power to ensure he is only attached to a standalone project which won’t take a beating from critics.

In addition to stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J. K. Simmons and Willem Dafoe will also feature in lead roles.
