Wrestlemania
THQ Nordic confirmed many of the early details on AEW: Fight Forever from yesterday’s listing. The game will combine a “nostalgic, arcade-wrestler feel with innovative AEW finishers and tandem offense moves.” In terms of the playable roster, the game is looking to include “the most legendary wrestlers to enter the ring plus all-new, high-flying AEW talent.”
When it comes to game modes, fans will have plenty to enjoy. According to THQ, AEW: Fight Forever will let players brawl it out in matches that include single, Tag-Team, 3-way, and 4-way bouts. There’s also Ladder, Casino Battle Royale, Unsanctioned Lights-Out, Falls Count Anywhere, and Exploding Barbed Wire Death. There will also be cooperative online multiplayer matches. In tag-team matches, players will be able to execute sequences of team attacks performed with simple button commands.
The game was originally announced back in November of 2020, and it’s coming from developer Yuke’s. The Japanese developer has previously worked on the WWE Smackdown and WWE 2K wrestling games between 2000 and 2018. Hideyuki Iwashita, who developed classic titles like Def Jam Vendetta and WWF No Mercy, is involved in the new project.
AEW: Fight Forever will release on PC later this year and, if reports are to be believed, it could be as soon as next month. However, THQ Nordic plans to show more during its digital showcase on August 12.
