Developer Aurogon Shanghai has unveiled hand-drawn fantasy adventure Afterimage, aiming for a late 2022 launch on consoles and PC.

The game takes place in a mystical world named Engardin, filled with natural wonders and hidden secrets. As heroine Renee, you’ll be traversing over fifteen hand-drawn environments taking in sights like volcanos, soaring towers and a ruined city. Each region of Afterimage will introduce new mechanics to get to grips with in each area.

There’ll also be over 150 different enemies to fight, and unique bosses to defeat and challenge your skills. You’ll also track down hundreds of chests hidden in the world and you’ll also be able to unlock plenty of new abilities.

Speaking of abilities, fighting-wise you’ll be able to equip two primary weapons and one secondary. You’ll switch between these at will during combat encounters in such a way that allows you to create your own fighting style. You’ll slide, leap and climb around the world, dodging deadly traps and growing your skill tree.

You can check out the game in action for yourself in the trailer down below. At the moment, Afterimage is currently pencilled in for a ‘late 2022’ launch. It’ll arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC when it does.
