EA Games and DICE have started to ramp up their coverage on the multiplayer expansion Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. Rather than just spitting out four new levels and calling it an expansion, DICE has redeveloped the games engine to add in 15 new weapons, 49 songs for the vehicle radio, and six vehicles that are associated with the Vietnam war.
EA’s latest blog post focused on some of the changes that would be done to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to make it Vietnam compliant. Most of the tools still function the same, but are reskinned to be more accurate to the era. Rather than toting high tech gadgets like blocks of C4, you will now have bundles of of dynamite; the vehicle repair tool will now be a blow torch and defibrillators are now adrenaline syringes.
Obviously you also won’t be able to use high tech motion sensor devices as the recon class or the in-vehicle one. The tracer dart has been removed as well, and there is no more spotting assistance using scopes. To improve your navigation however, DICE has added in a compass that integrates with your minimap.
The recon class will also become less reliant on advanced scopes. While there is a zoom feature, every other class will return to using the gun’s iron sights. DICE has not yet mentioned if there will be a rebalancing of the weapons destructive powers in order to retain the realistic approach. The tools however, will continue to provide the same amount of assistance.

The Tuk-Tuk was not listed or officially mentioned as a functioning vehicle in EA’s blog, but designer Gustav Halling confirmed its addition on Twitter:
Who else wants to drive the tuk-tuk into the enemies den while we blast The Ride of the Valkyries? That’s right, everyone.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will be released this winter for $15 on PC, PS3 and Xbox Live.
