Ant Man And The Wasp: Quantumania marks the next major milestone for the MCU after the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as it is within Quantumania that we will get our first proper look at Jonathan Major’s multiversal and overarching MCU Phase 4 and 5 threat, Kang The Conqueror. As though we glimpsed one version of the time travelling terror in the final episode of Loki Season One. He was a far more benign character than the one (or possibly the many, considering his warning to Loki and Sylvie) who is set to appear in Ant Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. In addition, the movie also marks the official beginning of Phase 5 of the MCU, which we now know, thanks to the announcement at the 2022 San Diego Comic Con by Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, is part of the “The Multiverse Saga”.For, just as Phases 1 to 3 of the MCU formed “The Infinity Saga” with Thanos as the overarching threat culminating in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Phases 4 to 6 are henceforth known as “The Multiverse Saga” and will, at least for Phases 4 to 5 based on what we know so far, feature Kang as the overarching villain of this saga, with every subsequent MCU movie and show leading to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

21/11/2022:Ahead of the release of their next issue, Empire Magazine have just released the below still of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Kang The Conqueror (Jonathon Majors) facing one another, presumably in the Quantum Realm.
Teasing what audiences can expect with Kang’s official arrival in the MCU, Quantumania director, Peyton Reed, had this to say to Empire;“I think it has a profound impact on the MCU,” “Jeff Loveness, who wrote this movie, is writing The Kang Dynasty as well, so there’s been a lot of discussion about the impact that this appearance of Kang The Conqueror makes. There are big things in store.”Reed then goes on to further tease:“Kang The Conqueror in our movie is a very different character,” “He’s someone who has dominion over time, and he’s a warrior and a strategist.” Discussing Scott/Ant-Man’s previous villains such as Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Reed describes Kang to Empire as “an all-timer antagonist” before explaining that with this conflict between Scott and Kang: “That’s interesting to me: to take the tiniest, and in some people’s minds weakest, Avenger, and put them up against this absolute force of nature.“
01/11/2022:Speaking in a video interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress, Kathryn Newton, who will be playing Cassie Lang in Quantumania, was asked what she could say about her role in the movie, and although she couldn’t say much due to the notorious MCU secrecy. When asked what parts of herself she was most excited to put into her portrayal of Cassie, she said:“That I’m really not perfect and I’m super impatient and I want to be a hero but I have no idea what I’m doing and I think Cassie Lang is like that. She’s just trying to figure out how to be a good person, and you know, making a lot of mistakes. She’s kind of a mess.“And when asked to describe the movie in just three adjectives, she replied:“Funny, epic, beautiful.“

24/10/2022:Ant Man And The Wasp: Quantumania writer/director, Peyton Reed, has tweeted out the below image:
Eagle eyed Marvel fans know that this is a close up from the cover of issue 46 of Volume 1 of The Avengers, from 1967. Which was written and illustrated by two of Marvel Comics most revered creatives, Roy Thomas, and John Buscema.Given that the story of the comic revolves around the supervillain, “Whirlwind” (debuting his new costume and identity after previously using the alias “The Human Top”), infiltrating the Avenger’s mansion and miniaturising and trapping the heroes, “Goliath” aka Hank Pym/fka Ant Man, and The Wasp aka Janet Van Dyne, in one of Hank’s ant hills along with a bomb intended to blow up the mansion and remaining Avengers.Other than Hank crafting a new Ant Man helmet to escape the ant hill, there doesn’t appear to be much plot wise from the comics that could be re-used in the Quantumania. So, it would seem that Reed has merely chosen this cover for its action text promising exciting action within the issue.Could it be, especially with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever mere weeks away, and Quantumania due to release in February, that a teaser trailer for the movie could be releasing soon?
