Modern Warfare 2 is finally here – but those who tried to play the game early using the ‘New Zealand trick’ may be running into some problems.

Typically, there was a way of gaming the system here, by changing your console region to New Zealand. However, as we mentioned prior to the launch, Infinity Ward warned that this time around, the ‘New Zealand trick’ will cause a load of issues that are best avoided.

According to Infinity Ward, they confirmed via Twitter: “If you are trying to change your console’s region setting in order to access #MWII early, you will experience connectivity issues and may be locked out of the game until the official launch time of your region.”

Sadly, for those who went ahead anyway, there are now a load of issues, which means you may need to delete the entire game and install it again.

As per Infinity Ward: “If you attempted to access #MWII outside of your region on PlayStation and are currently unable to connect due to a stalled in-game install screen, you may need to delete your game and reinstall it.”

We did warn you. Good thing is that it’s an easy fix so you’ll be back in the action in no time.
