Ever wondered what’s really inside an Egyptian pyramid? Monsters. That’s what I’ve learned from the these leaked screenshots of the first DLC for Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. The XBLA game is less than a week out of release, but GameFaqs user Bonovox_40 managed to uncover the content with little effort. This begs the question: was this content included in in the downloadable game, but simply locked from our view?
The screenshots show a towering pyramid level titled ‘Beauty, Desire, Situation Dire’, including the prime target/boss nestled snugly at its apex, naturally. Also shown are two new playable characters, Julius Belmont and Maria Renard. You’re also likely to see a number of new enemies to add to your monster manual, such as: a typical mummy, anime-stylized Egyptian god, and various annoying bugs.
Check out two screenshots of the new heroes in action below, as well as the pyramid header image:
The tentative date for Game Rant’s Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Review is tomorrow night or Tuesday, but I let you in on an early secret. It feels like there’s not enough content in the game. The addition of another map and two new characters might have done a lot to improve the game in reviewers’ eyes, but perhaps Konami isn’t out for great review scores on this one.
This entire game, with no story or context, reeks of a quick money grab. A cooperative game with DLC already included in the main game content, combined with the promise of even more DLC. Not hard to see what the ultimate goal of HoD is, not like that’s ultimately a bad thing. Anyways, you’ll see my impressions of the title soon.
Xbox’s Summer of Arcade continues this week with Monday Night Combat, and next week with Lara Croft: Guardian of Light, so it’s likely we won’t be seeing any DLC announcements until after that.
Any Castlevania: Harmony of Despair fans out there, Ranters? Excited to have some new content to play through with characters old and new?
