Utilizing the Sony PlayStation 3’s 3D and Move support, Dynasty Warriors 7 will be coming to North America on March 22, 2011. The game will also be released on the Xbox 360. UK gamers will get their hands on the game on March 25.

The Dynasty Warriors franchise has been very lucrative for Tecmo Koei and ranks as its most successful franchise, having sold over 11 million units worldwide. The award-winning tactical action game franchise was originally a spin-off of the company’s turn-based strategy Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. The latest installment promises improved graphics and gameplay. Dynasty Warriors 7 will be the first game in the series to extend past the Battle of Wuzhang Plains and will add the Jin Kingdom to the mix, bringing the total number of major factions to four.

New gameplay features and modes have been included to help enhance the experience for players of the game. Conquest Mode (Chronicle Mode in the Japanese version) is an additional game mode that has been incorporated into the game. This mode allows gamers to free-roam throughout this era of China and includes create-your-own-story gameplay. It has been confirmed that the aforementioned mode will allow players to select from the game’s extensive list of characters and use them and their “support animals” to cut their own path through the world. Conquest Mode will feature both online and offline co-operative play.

The combat system marks the return to the familiar charge system, which allows players to end increasingly longer combos with a special move of varying effect, depending on the situation. Gamers will be given the ability to wield more than one weapon and execute combos exclusive to their unique weapons. In addition, both aerial attacks and aerial combos are being introduced. Some major battles will be fought in two sections, with the player having varying perspectives of the battle. Swimming and climbing ladders from Dynasty Warriors 6 have also been confirmed to return in Dynasty Warriors 7.
