It’s been a difficult wait after the frenetic and fantastic beta, but Killzone 3 is now on store shelves all across North America. It’s a heated week for fans of the first-person shooter, with both Bulletstorm from People Can Fly and Killzone 3 from Guerrilla Games launching simultaneously this week. Sony has released a launch trailer alongside the game’s release that manages to showcase a whole lot of Killzone 3 in its very limited time. Both the campaign and multiplayer modes share the spotlight in this video, giving potential players a good grasp of the intensity and graphical capability of the PS3 exclusive.
Although the reaction to the campaign has been less than enthusiastic from many sources, the multiplayer beta surely convinced a great number of people to join the ISA against the third Helghan uprising. Not only were PS3 owners offered a free chance to play a fantastic competitor to last year’s FPS phenomenon (Black Ops), Guerrilla Games gathered some valuable feedback from the beta testers and plan to implement a huge log of changes in the very near future.
If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest in the war against the Helghast, Sony is also releasing a series of informative career trailers, the first of which focuses on the heavy class, the Engineer. In case the Engineer doesn’t appeal to you, the other four classes are the Marksman, Field Medic, Tactician, and Infiltrator, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Killzone 3 is a feature-packed release, with a lot to choose from for those with concerns about the value of the title. There’s the campaign for single player fun, a co-op campaign for those who want to fight together, online multiplayer with unlockable guns and perks, and a Botzone for practice, or for the very unfortunate souls playing some place without an internet connection.
Now that Killzone 3 is out, was it worth the wait? Shooters have begun to dominate the charts, and after the countless hours gamers have spent on Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops, is there still time for one more FPS (or two with Bulletstorm)?
