Fans everywhere have been waiting years for a third mash-up between Marvel superheroes and Capcom characters, so when word got out that Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds was finally coming people were understandably excited.

Fast forward to the present date and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a mere 15 days away from release (but who’s counting?) and anticipation has reached a fever pitch. However, as many gamers know, once a Triple-A title nears its release there are usually leaks detailing some of the game’s content, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 isn’t the exception.

Someone has managed to score an early copy of the game and they’ve posted the explosion-filled opening cinematic. The footage that has been leaked has never been seen before so it’s all brand-spanking new, and if the game plays as good as the footage looks then we’re in for a fantastic game.

The opening trailer features the likes of Spider Man, Nathan Spencer, Ryu, Wolverine, Thor, Mike Haggar, Dr. Doom, and many more characters… there is a surprising lack of Deadpool, though.

The opening for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 can be viewed below, but you better hurry because Capcom will likely be tearing it down as soon as they can.

See, we didn’t lie, it is indeed a pretty awesome opening. There seems to be a lot of conflict between the good guys and the bad guys, which basically dismisses the notion that it’s just Marvel characters versus Capcom characters, like previous installments have proposed. There’s actually a story to this game that seems to link the two worlds together, which wasn’t needed, but will help bring players into the game that much more.

There’s no denying that Capcom have really outdone themselves, not only on the trailer, but on the game as well. The newest entry in the long dormant series is shaping up to be the best yet, and with the final two combatants announced just a few days ago, the roster is complete – meaning that fans are now officially all fired up and ready to go Henshin A Go Go Baby. Yeah, okay, I’m sorry for that.

What did you think about the opening cinematic? Is Marvel vs. Capcom 3 a day-one purchase for you?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 February 15, 2011.
