Ever since the public got its first glimpse of Modern Warfare 3 in action in the game’s first trailer, pre-orders for the title have been going through the roof. MW3 has already put the pre-order numbers for Black Ops to shame, which itself outdid the Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders.
E3 2011 has afforded the public looks at a few single of the player stages that will be included in Modern Warfare 3, both of which have delivered on some of the insane moments which have been claimed. While getting some good looks at the single player campaign, Spec Ops and gameplay information has been woefully absent. Spec Ops mode has gotten overhauled and includes different variants, like a Survival Mode, in addition to the mission-based gameplay that was present in Modern Warfare 2.
The official pre-order figures for Modern Warfare 3 have not been revealed by GameStop Senior VP Bob McKenzie, but he has admitted that the game has already surpassed Black Ops in sales numbers well in advance of the November release. McKenzie’s thoughts:
With the kind of attention Modern Warfare 3 is getting from fans, it won’t be long before it dethrones Black Ops for highest grossing video game. One billion dollars is a lot to clear, but judging by the kind of work Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games are putting into Modern Warfare 3, it’s may not be too much to achieve.
“Already, this year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is significantly ahead of that pace. Our customers’ response to the reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been amazing.”
Since the Call of Duty franchise got a fresh shot in the arm with Modern Warfare, gamers have looked at the series as the benchmark for every first person shooter on the market. With good looking single player, revamped multiplayer, and a huge player base, Modern Warfare 3 should have no problem securing a place in millions of consoles world wide. The game will also be featuring a brand new service for multiplayer tracking in the form of Call of Duty Elite.
Modern Warfare 3 will be releasing on November 8, 2011, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
