There’s been a lot of news coming out of the THQ camp this week. First they locked down the UFC license until 2018 and acquired the Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed, now THQ is bringing one of their most popular franchises to Steam.

MX vs. ATV Reflex is scheduled to be released on the gaming service just in time for the holidays.

MX vs. ATV Reflex was released last year on home consoles and was considered a solid installment in the franchise.

The game had two main features:

  • Dual-stick control, which allowed the player to operate the rider and vehicle separately. One stick would be used to control their bike, while the other would shift the weight of the rider giving the player more control and the ability to regain stability after a rough landing. Real-time terrain deformation - as gamers raced against their opponents around the track, the terrain would shift creating a dynamic racing environment.

Of course, these features will also be part of the Steam version of the game. Though, you’re probably wondering what incentive PC gamers will have to pick up a year old game? Well Michael Lustenberger, VP of Global Brand Management had this to say:

Ah yes, the old “package all the DLC into one bundle” routine. I believe a little game known as Red Dead Redemption is also releasing a DLC bundle.

“As a huge added bonus, we developed a substantial amount of dynamic downloadable content post-console launch that will be included in MX vs. ATV Reflex on PC.”

I prefer the console for all my racing needs and will probably pass on this release on Steam, but that doesn’t mean I can’t gift it to another fan of the series on my friends list. There is no solid release date, but expect to see MX vs. ATV Reflex before Christmas.
