The 1997 turn-based JRPG took the world by the storm. Final Fantasy VII (FFVII) marked the new era, not just for the RPG genre. Its unique approach to storytelling and technology introduced new possibilities for videogames. Today, many things in the original game don’t hold water. But, the 7th installment in the Final Fantasy franchise redefined what games can be and heralded the coming of content for a more mature and broader audience....

Rainbow Six Siege has been adding a ton of new operators continuously since the release of the game a few years ago, and that means there are a plethora of operators to choose from on both Attack and Defense. It’s been on the cards for many years now, but 28 Months Later – the threequel following on from the events of 2007’s 28 Weeks Later – may still see the light of day. Specifically, the English filmmaker behind the 2002 original has confirmed that the script is done and dusted, and he’s even shown interest in directing this new installment. The new tidbit comes by way of a recent interview with British music publication NME, where the award-winning 66-year-old film director sat down and candidly shared some insight into the much-anticipated follow-up to one of the more memorable zombie/infected movies of the last few decades....

Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are the first fully-fledged Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch and perhaps the best way to explore the beloved Kanto region. Combining mechanics from the Pokémon GO mobile game with the story and design of the original games, these games are a nostalgic feast for veteran Pokémon fans and are a terrific way for newcomers to the franchise to ease into the series....

It’s very rare that games feature antagonists that are as fleshed out and memorable as the heroes. It’s easy to see why this is the case — after all, most developers find it easier to make the main villain a morally defunct human being that is the very epitome of villainous itself. Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard has filed a last-minute attempt to delay the counting of votes from some of its workers seeking to form a union. Last month, Blizzard’s Albany-based band of Diablo testers formally won the right to form a union following a months-long process. Ballots were subsequently sent out, with the result due to be announced on 18th November. Now, Activision Blizzard has entered a motion to impound those ballots, GamesIndustry....

The next Call of Duty game has found its developer. During an earnings call earlier today, Activision confirmed that Sledgehammer Games is on the job. It’s certainly not a surprise, as Sledgehammer has been one of several studios to take on games in the franchise. Until recently, it had been playing a supporting role with Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare. Soon, Sledgehammer Games will take lead on a Call of Duty game for 2021....

The next seasons of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Mobile have been delayed indefinitely owing to the protests over the death of George Floyd. The murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has incited protests around the world. Floyd’s death was “caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain” after Chauvin kneeled on the man’s neck for almost nine minutes....

Get ready Adventure Time fans, a new game is out now. Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion just released this past Friday. The new title is described as an open world adventure this time around. The game is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Niantic is preparing to wrap up an action-packed November for Pokemon GO in the next few days. Off the heels of multiple events such as raids, Team GO Rocket battles, and Supereffective Week, the month has been very successful at giving players plenty of things to do in-game. But it’s not over yet because heading into December, which ends twelve months of content and improvements for trainers everywhere, there will be one more event to close it all....

In Crysis 2, the futuristic FPS from developer Crytek, players were given a whole slew options with which to take down their foes, and it was these options — everything from invisibility to super strength — that made the game’s multiplayer that much more engaging. Hoping to give the multiplayer a jolt in the arm, Crytek has just released a trailer for their upcoming map pack, Retaliation, that features four new multiplayer arenas each bringing the same stellar attention to detail Crytek is known for....

Bethesda Softworks’ Elder Scrolls series has been a fan favorite for over 16 years now and with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the developer hopes to make the most complete RPG experience yet. After getting a feel for the story and seeing some screens, most gamers feel very confident that Skyrim is in some very capable hands, but there is still one nagging issue gamers are fearful over: the leveling. After a less than successful leveling system in Oblivion, one that was a black mark amidst a great game, there is a fear that Skyrim will contain similar level scaling problems....
