Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have finally arrived, and many fans are really enjoying getting to explore the game’s open world while catching as many creatures as possible. Unfortunately, the release hasn’t been going all that smoothly for some players that have picked up the latest entry in the franchise, with examples of poor performance being posted all throughout social media. Horizon: Zero Dawn presents such a lush, vibrant game-world that at times it seems like an actually living world. Nintendo shipped approximately 53.6 million amiibo (figures and cards combined) in the 12 months ended March 31, 2016, president Tatsumi Kimishima has revealed. Kimishima told investors that Nintendo “shipped about 24.7 million amiibo figures and about 28.9 million amiibo cards, a huge increase over the prior fiscal year”. The chart below highlights the huge increase in amiibo sales, though note amiibo cards were only launched in July 2015. “By providing a continued presence for Nintendo characters in stores, we believe the amiibo platform has created great benefits for all of Nintendo’s platforms,” commented Kimishima....

Activision Blizzard has announced in its fourth-quarter financial results that it had earned record-breaking profits for the year 2018. The company also confirmed that Black Ops 4 was a huge success, even outselling Black Ops III. But apparently, that wasn’t good enough. Despite earning $2.38 million USD last year, the company will still lay off 8% of its workforce, or around 800 people. “While our financial results for 2018 were the best in our history, we didn’t realize our full potential,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard....

Remedy has made public – via Polygon – a pitch video for Alan Wake 2 created using a prototype for the game from around five years ago. The video was shopped around to potential publishers, but should not be seen as the opening part of a sequel, but an idea of what the follow-up could be. “It’s more like a mood piece,” said Remedy’s creative director and head writer Sam Lake....
