Video game franchises need to change. That’s how they stay fresh; developers don’t want players to get tired from playing the same game so many times. Change is how some of gaming’s most iconic franchises have persevered; they make smart improvements to their formula, while still retaining those special elements that made them worth following in the first place. Some franchises, though, go too overboard in trying to change things up....

There may be a new Borderlands title in the works, if recent reports commented on by Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford are to be believed. The rumour originally seems to have stemmed from GameReactor, who claimed “what you might call a spin-off” is currently in the works. The rumour was then elaborated on by games journalist Jeff Grub who said during his Game Mess show that he thought Gearbox might not necessarily be developing the title, though they would still be involved....

If you’ve been looking for a change of pace in Fortnite, it looks like a new mode could be coming soon. According to dataminer and leaker @RealGrasshalm2, we might be getting something called “Training Ground”. There’s no clear idea of what this could be right now, but there are some solid hints. First-person space exploration game Adr1ft has been delayed to Q1 2016, 505 Games has confirmed. The game had previously been due to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC this month. It will now release on PC as a “premier launch title” for Oculus Rift, arriving the same day as the VR hardware. 505 says that details on “additional skus and platforms will be announced in the future”. “We couldn’t be more pleased to work directly with the Oculus team to bring ADR1FT to the Oculus Rift,” said Adam Orth, creative director of developer Three One Zero....

All Elite Wrestling has been on a roll, consistently selling out all of its shows, and set to host one of the biggest professional wrestling pay-per-views of the year on August 31 - AEW All Out. The AEW TV show is set to begin this October, and if the company is able to keep its momentum going, it seems as though it will become genuine competition for WWE. One of the ways AEW will be competing with WWE and expanding its brand in the future will be through a video game, as Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks has confirmed that an AEW video game is in the works....
