Sony starts its string of layoffs today, shutting down 20 stores across the US and laying off approximately 1000 employees. In its prime in 2008, Sony had 44 stores in the US, and was the 20th largest CE retailer in 2012. Of course, these stores sold not only Playstation products, but Sony’s TVs, PCs, phones, tablets, etc. Sony Electronics COO Mike Fasulo said this about the layoffs: Sony has projected a loss of $ 1....

CD Projekt RED showed off a new trailer today during Night City Wire — the livestream for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s called ‘The Gig’, and it covers the first three quests of the game. There aren’t too many actual spoilers, but it’s clear enough that the job doesn’t quite go down as planned. If you’re not looking to get spoiled, it might be best to avoid the trailer for now. However, the approximately two-minute long clip doesn’t show too much — just enough to whet the appetite....

While Pokémon games are well known as solid games, quality control-wise, the Nintendo seal of quality has wanned in the years and effected the pokémon series. We don’t talk movies much on this site, but since Hideo Kojima’s new wildly anticipated game, Death Stranding is more movie than most blockbusters are these days we’ll let it slide. UPDATE 9/3/22: Four more Activision Blizzard shareholders have filed lawsuits against the company over its planned acquisition by Microsoft, bringing the total now to six. Polygon reported that these legal notices take a similar stance as the original two filings - that Activision Blizzard’s deal violates the Securities and Exchange Act (more on all that below). All the way back in 2012, developer Bluehole Studio released the MMORPG TERA outside of its home country of South Korea.
