The PlayStation 2 had a long life since its release in 2000, with games still getting produced for the machine right up until 2013. Although after 2007 most of these games were downscaled ports of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles released across multiple platforms. Ironically, the graphics peaked, and the machine’s best performing games came towards the end of its true life-cycle around 2006 when the PlayStation 3 was released....

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched in 2011 to great success. It has remained in the zeitgeist ever since, which is miraculous for any game to last eight years, or even a week or month sometimes. Remember when Anthem launched in February? Yeah, that ship sunk fast. The point is, Skyrim touched a lot of people from hardcore gamers to the more casual crowd. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt launched in 2015 and has, perhaps, had an even greater impact on the fantasy RPG genre....

It’s easy to point to Nintendo’s motion-controlled little-console-that-could as a graphically inferior box, rife with games that look aged even by 2006’s standards, let alone 2019’s. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given that the Wii’s hardware hidden away inside that slick, glossy white case was basically comparable to the GameCube. A demo for the forthcoming adventure Kirby and the Forgotten Land is now available on Nintendo Switch. The full game is set for release on 25th March, with the demo offering a taster of Mouthful Mode and more. The demo consists of three levels from the first world, including the first boss. Players who complete the demo will receive a Present Code to unlock extra items in the final release....

A wireless SNES controller may be coming to the Nintendo Switch, as an FCC filing for a model was spotted by Resetera user Link83. There’s no official word as yet, but on the back of this controller, the ‘HAC’ model number is printed across it. This is specifically designated for Switch hardware and peripherals. Last year, Nintendo released a NES controller for the Switch with the release of classic NES games as part of the Switch Online membership....

According to a leak, battle royale fans may be getting PUBG 2 some time soon. The leak, which appears to be an exclusive news report from Money Today Broadcasting, mentions the next entry in Krafton’s Battlegrounds IP. Krafton is one of the developers of PUBG, along with PUBG Corp. The original posting of the news report could not be located, nor could a site for Money Today Broadcasting. Instead, the post was put on Twitter by @PlayerIGN, a prominent PUBG news and leaks account....

Oh, this is nice! Nintendo’s used its latest Direct to slap a date on Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. The bundling of two classic tactical battlers will be hitting Switch on 8th of April, with pre-orders available now on the Nintendo eShop. Re-Boot Camp includes both Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. Both are absolute classics - brightly coloured turn-based gems that are fiercely replayable. The remake has a chunky 3D art style that a lot of people find hard to love, but it’s not the only new element, by the sounds of things....

It’s been an arduous few months for Madmind Studio, the developers of Agony. Originally touted as a brutal, gory, and horrifying first-person experience that tasks you to make your way out of hell, its own namesake has become a parody of the experience. That’s because of numerous bugs, glitches, and middling presentation which lead to an agonizing playthrough. On top of all these, there were promises of uncut and uncensored footage which all went up in smoke....
