The 8-bit platformer retro platformer, Noglious, launches on Steam today. The game makes its debut on the platform after a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2017. Nogalious is also the first game in a trilogy of titles, having Mirilla (due in Q4 of 2018) and Dragorieta (2019) to follow its release. Much like the 8-bit games that have come before it, Nogalious features dungeons, puzzles, and boss battles. The soundtrack also harkens back to a more simplistic era, boasting nostalgic chiptune sounds....

Nintendo preservation site Forest of Illusion, in collaboration with Render Archive and NintendoWarden, have uncovered what appears to be a cut stage from Super Mario 64. The screenshot reel from a pre-release build of the game was found in the long-sought after 1996 Nintendo Company Report. The report, which has been carefully scanned and uploaded here, includes the standard yearly company round-up, plus some accompanying images of Nintendo’s star roster and various consoles including the Nintendo 64 and the destined for failure Virtual Boy....

According to Netflix’s Weekly Top 10, Yeon Sang-ho, Train to Busan’s director, sees his most recent creation hitting number one in the Top 10 non-English movies category in its debut week. While Jung_E premiered on Jan. 20, 2023, according to Netflix’s official site, it already recorded a total of 19.3 million hours viewed in just three days, entering the Top 10 list of 80 countries. The South Korean sci-fi movie presents an alternative version of Earth, in a post-apocalyptic scenario set in the 22nd century, where humans live in a civil war in space as their home planet is uninhabitable....

Week four of the Forza Motorsport 6 garage update also includes news of a new track, New England’s Lime Rock Park. Set in the hills, the 1.5 mile Lime Rock Park has been a motorsport venue since 1957 and has seen greats from Paul Newman to Stirling Moss take to the tarmac. Previously announced locales in the game include Rio de Janeiro, Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen and Brands Hatch....

Action Henk, a speed-running platformer which recently launched on Steam, is coming to consoles this summer, RageSquid and Curve Digital have announced. Set in a toybox world, Action Henk features a cast of classic action-figure inspired characters each hoping to become the fastest toy in town. With your selected character you’ll need to run, jump and butt slide your way through more than 70 levels, each with its own leaderboard....

Activision Blizzard and Chinese publisher NetEase have reportedly cancelled an unannounced World of Warcraft MMO following a disagreement between the two parties. As reported by Bloomberg, the unannounced project - internally known as Neptune and in development for three years - wasn’t a direct adaptation of the existing WoW MMO, but rather an MMORPG spin-off set in the same universe but during a different time period. However, despite the project’s already lengthy development, NetEase is now said to have disbanded its creative team - consisting of more than 100 developers - after a disagreement with Activision Blizzard “over financial terms” resulted in both parties pulling the plug....

Following the runaway success of the remasters of the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro trilogies, as well as Crash Team Racing, Activision is making plans for future restorations of classic titles. After being in business since 1980, Activision has a wide range of titles to select, though it’s likely they may appeal to the same audiences that made their previous restorations massive hits. The Crash trilogy has sold 10 million thus far and Spyro’s remaster was considered a success despite sales numbers not being presently available....

In 1974 the author Robert Silverberg was asked by the National Institute on Drug Abuse to prepare a report on how drugs are portrayed in science fiction. In the report – available to read online here – he compiled a hugely detailed list that broke down sci fi drug use into nine categories by what effect the drugs had: euphorics, mind-expanders, and sensation enhancers, for example. If you’re looking for pre-1970s science fiction to read on this topic, then Silverberg’s list is the place to go to....

Redacted Studios has revealed the first trailer for Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma ahead of its release on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year. Picking up where the original game left off, Afro Samurai 2 follows Kuma on a quest for vengeance against Afro after the slaughter of his family. More details on the game are expected to be revealed at E3.

So tonight I really wanted to sit down and try a few demos and top of my list was Aliens vs. Predator. The demo dropped this Thursday and I hadn’t heard anything about it at all. Week 10 of the NFL regular season is officially complete and is accompanied by yet another Madden 23 TOTW reveal. 2D arena game Penarium will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, September 22, Team17 has announced. The game will be available to download for £6.99, with a free trial version also available for those wanting to give it a go before taking the plunge. Developed by Dutch studio Self Mad Miracle, Penarium is described by Team17 as a “fantastically sadistic circus extravaganza” that sees players take on the role of Willy, a “quirky antihero” who must try and avoid being killed by deathtraps in a “crazy circus show”....
