If you were around for the Pokémon GO launch, you’ll remember that it was a little bumpy. Or, rather, let’s be frank here (even if your name isn’t Frank, just roll with me on this one), it was a catastrophic disaster of a 35-on-the-Richter-scale screw up. Glitchy, broken, more bugs than an I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! Bushtucker Trial… it was an all-round bad time. Grand Theft Auto Online was similarly craptastic when it first arrived, and for much the same reason....

Game criticism is a tricky subject to approach. On one hand, there’s the games that are universally adored by both critics and fans. On the other hand, there are those that are much more subjective. People are diverse, they like different things, and that’s where critics can come across as somewhat foolish at times. Dragon Ball GT gets a lot of bad rap and, for the most part, rightfully so. Forza Horizon 5 is introducing a new PvP progression system. As detailed in the patch notes (thanks, TheGamer) - in which the team says “we’re constantly working to improve the experience in Forza Horizon 5” - Horizon Open has been updated with a new progression system “including badges which can unlocked through gameplay”. There’s also custom racing, which allows players to find races “for their chosen race discipline and PI class”, as well as fixes to some scenarios where “the player could be left waiting longer than necessary in the post-race flow”....

PlayStation has announced that it will be holding a PlayStation 5 Showcase next Thursday evening, promising a glimpse of the “future of PS5”. As per the PlayStation blog, the broadcast will take place at 9pm UK time on Thursday, September 9. The forty minute show will include “updates from PlayStation Studios” and a look at games releasing this holiday and beyond. The AEW Full Gear pay-per-view was full of shocking moments, with Cody losing in his attempt to become the All Elite Wrestling world champion and being betrayed by his friend MJF. A brand new Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration with Fall Guys will be kicking off today (August 11th).
