If you own a PS3, odds are, you’ve either played or at least heard of Demon’s Souls. Notorious for its insane level of difficulty, it quickly became a cult hit in the PS3’s catalog of games, proving that the console can still hold its own after some uncertainty early in its lifespan.
Recently at the Tokyo Game Show during Sony’s conference Hidetaka Miyazaki of From Software, the creators of Demon’s Souls, announced a new game that they are working on titled Project Dark. It is still yet to be seen as to whether this is just a working title or the official title of the game; details are still extremely scarce. All that is known so far is that, like Demon’s Souls, Project Dark will have a dark fantasy feel and is said to appeal to a similar audience.

While it’s extremely difficult to draw conclusions about a game that almost nothing is currently known about, I think it’s a safe bet to assume that Project Dark will have a similar level of difficulty to that of Demon’s Souls. This is one of the things I really admired about From’s last game. While so many games and franchises on the market seem to be getting toned down in order to appeal to a broader audience, it was refreshing to see that the developers weren’t willing to sacrifice their vision in order to bring in a more casual crowd to sell more copies.
On a whole though, I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to assume that we’ll be fighting off legions of undead when Project Dark releases 2011 for the PS3. As more details begin surfacing regarding this mysterious game, you can be sure that we’ll be bringing them to you as they come.
How did you feel about Demon’s Souls? What would you like to see done in this new game?
