Slam Bolt Scrappers is the upcoming PSN title from Fire Hose Games and up until this point we’ve brought you some awesome gameplay footage of the title. A new Slam Bolt Scrappers trailer has released and to celebrate the game’s launch next week, the guys over at Fire Hose are giving PAX East attendees a chance to win free copies of the game.
We gave you a taste of some of the block types players can create to take down their opponent’s towers in Slam Bolt Scrappers. We also showed off some of the crazy characters gamers can play. But one question still remained, even after we were given a walkthrough of the game. What’s up with the hats?
A common theme with Slam Bolt Scrappers are the hats the characters wear in-game. It turns out that these hats are the trophies players can unlock. The developers wanted a more substantial way to reward players for completing challenges in the game, and with each trophy unlocked, players will get a corresponding hat to show off their successes. Many are content with the standard achievements and trophies, but being rewarded with an in-game item is so much sweeter.

Those of you attending PAX East this weekend will not only be able to check out the game first hand, but you’ll also have a chance to win a free copy, though there is some effort required. Gamers hoping to snag a free copy of Slam Bolt Scrappers will have to wear a crazy, attention grabbing hat. The developers will be showing off Slam Bolt Scrappers at booth 1133, and they’re all about their hats. In fact they’ll be wearing red fire fighter hats, so they should be easy to spot.
Slam Bolt Scrappers will be launching on PSN on March 15th.
